      ATTENTION Forum Database Breach   03/04/2019

      There has been a breach of our database. Please make sure you change your password (use a password manager, like Lastpass).
      If you used this password anywhere else, change that too! The passwords themselves are stored hashed, but may old accounts still had old, insecure (by today's standards) hashes from back when they where created. This means they can be "cracked" more easily. Other leaked information includes: email, IP, account name.
      I'm trying my best to find out more and keep everyone up to date. Discord (http://invite.gg/TerraFirmaCraft) is the best option for up to date news and questions. I'm sorry for this, but the damage has been done. All I can do is try to make sure it doesn't happen again.

Weapon Suggestions

I had some ideas for some weapons that I haven't seen suggested.

 

1. Sling-The sling would be crafted with leather and/or rope. it would be a ranged weapon that would deal bludgeoning damage and use stones as ammo. Its range would be less than a bow, but slightly longer than a javelin.

 

2.Bolas-Crafted with rope and stones. It would deal the least damage of any ranged weapon and the shortest range, but it would cause slowness to the target to simulate the creature becoming entangled in the bola.

 

3.Atlatl-This would be crafted with sticks and a wood plank. It would use javelins as ammo, but would increase the range and damage of the javelin.

 

4.Pike-This would be crafted with a javelin head above 2 sticks. It can't be thrown, but has a long reach. When the player holds right click the  pike would be held out in front of the player. Any creature that walks/runs into the pike while being held out takes damage. The pike would also slow the player down.

 

5.Harpoon-This would be crafted with a javelin head, rope, and a stick. It would be used mainly to catch squids. It would be thrown at a creature. Then once it hit its target the player would right click and pull the creature closer while dealing damage.

 

This is my first post. What do you guys thinks?

It's very nice!

 

I suggest the Extra firma weapons being added, plus others from Balkon

 

1. Halberd: Halberd head above 2 sticks, could replace the pike, or be better than the pike, but more expensive (2 ingots), very long reach, piercing

 

2. Dagger: Short reach, but adds bleeding (like poison but deadly), slashing

 

3. Blowgun: Fired with darts, shorter than bow, and javelin, could cause piercing damage

 

4. Poison ammunition: Maybe some poisonous plants or subtances (ricin, cyanide... etc...) or poisonous frogs (jungle biomes, when more mobs are added). They could be fired and cast poison upon opponents, if applied these poisons to arrows, darts, and javelins

 

5. Shields: I suggested that before, I remember well, in the Combat revamp tread. But it consists on a slot for shields, in which it could be placed on the left hand (not the tool hand, the other one).

I like the ideas. I'm always in for more diverse combat.

Though, not sure about the sling. It seems like the devs are not fond of long-range crushing damage weaons; they prefer skeletons to be melee-attackable-only, at least judging from what I heard in the 'ranged weapon against skeleton' thread.

 

I think the blowgun should have longer range then a javelin, but shorter range than an atlatl. Also, I think the shield can go on the back slot, but render on your hand when you hold a weapon.

 

For the bleeding, I think it would be nice if each damage type could have a chance to add a negative effect. Crushing damage weapons could give a 'stunned' effect(slows down, and weakens, possibly blinds as well), slashing weapons can give bleeding(drains health, can kill, possibly mobs find you and try to kill you more?), and piercing weapons can uh, no idea what.. sorry...

Some weapons, such as daggers, will be more likely to apply the 'damage effect' then other weapons.

 

I think poison, if added, should not be the 'drains health but does not kill' of vanilla minecraft, but instead be more dangerous, having a verity of effects, such as nausea, slowness, minor damage, weakness, slower swing speed, etc.

 

Finally, I think a war hammer would be a nice addition. A slow but long-reaching and powerful crushing weapon, with a high stun chance.

I think a sling would fit the mod's theme. It wouldn't necessarily do a lot of damage and it would take a while to get as leather and rope would be required to make it.
