      ATTENTION Forum Database Breach   03/04/2019

There has been a breach of our database. Please make sure you change your password (use a password manager, like Lastpass).
If you used this password anywhere else, change that too! The passwords themselves are stored hashed, but may old accounts still had old, insecure (by today's standards) hashes from back when they where created. This means they can be "cracked" more easily. Other leaked information includes: email, IP, account name.
I'm trying my best to find out more and keep everyone up to date. Discord (http://invite.gg/TerraFirmaCraft) is the best option for up to date news and questions. I'm sorry for this, but the damage has been done. All I can do is try to make sure it doesn't happen again.

(if I'm not clear, please tell me...english is my second language)

I've check on the change log and, even if there is a lot of stuff on taming animals, I didn't find any solution to my problem.

I didn't see something like that either on the bug reports

It seems that I can't have any interaction with wolves other than using a rope too tie them to a post and attacking them...

-When I shift+point them it shows me an empty heart (wich is normal I guess)

-When I shift+right click nothing happens (that's how you pet them...right?)

-I can tie it to a post but it won't sit (Is it supposed too?)

-It doesn't follow me

-I can give them bones but there is no effect too it AND when I click elsewhere with an empty hand, all the bones I juste gave it pop in my hand like nothing happened (I tried with bones from different origins:  mobs, animals, no difference)

-When I try to feed them meat (any kind of meat....except dried and smoked, wich I'm unable to do right now) nothing happen either (And it must be hungry, it has been tied to this post for a month.....). The food is not consumed (the weight does not change) and there is no like sound like when I feed my pigs

-With all these effort, nothing is changing on the familiarity score (empty heart)

The same thing happens with all the wolves (male and female)

I tried to interact with it when it is tied to a post or free, nothing changed

I have no problem feeding my pigs and there familiarity score is doing great

Note that I restarted to play a few days ago and didn't install the newer version at first (It was the 79.8 I think) and the same problem was happening. I installed 79.15 after noting the bug but it didn't correct it as I hoped. Everything else I working fine.

I hope I didn't overlooked at something.

Thank you very much, I have great time playing this game!

First and foremost, wolves must be fed bones until they show heart particles, just like in vanilla. Doing this marks you as their "owner" meaning that they will follow you around. Once the wolves have an owner, you will no longer be able to feed them bones. All other interactions with wolves, including feeding, making them sit by tying them to a fence, and petting for familiarity increase all require that they first have an owner.

Once they have an owner:

  • They will follow you
  • Tying them to a fence post will make them sit
  • Shift-right click will make their tail wag since you are petting them. Pet once a day to increase familiarity. If you miss a single day before the white border on the heart appears, the familiarity will decrease.

Once familiarity is high enough:

  • You can feed them meat to restore health and breed

Once familiarity is full and they are tamed:

  • They will have a collar
  • You can tell them to sit/stand without using a rope
  • You can name them

Great! Thank you! I didn't understand it that clearly when I read the change logs.

But the problem remains for I tried to feed it bones (a total of about 50 I guess, I don't know how much it's suppose to take). Without effect and when I right click elsewhere aferward, all the bones go back in my inventory like nothing ever happens.

I tought that it might be a problem of "vanilla bones" because the skeletons where dropping some of those a a time, but the bug as been fixed I think and it does it anyway.

Si my problem now is that there is a bug with the bones ^^

Meanwhile, I'll go and continue to try feeding it bones in any way possible (That came out wrong...hahah!)

Does the wolf follow you or does is it clearly still wild. Remember wild wolves can never be tamed enough to get collar or sit without being tied up with rope.

FOUND THE PROBLEM!!!

I was feeding them bones while holding shift, witch works with the pigs but apparently not for the wolves...And since the bones were "consumed" holding shift I didn't realize I was doing it wrong.

So they follow me now, and I can pet them, and I can feed them, no more problem.

Bunsan, they looked clearly still wild....because they were ^^

Sorry for the trouble, but I'm happy I wrote because Kitty's response upgraded my understanding of the wolf mechanics.

Fixed for the next version so the bones are properly consumed when sneaking.
