      ATTENTION Forum Database Breach   03/04/2019

There has been a breach of our database. Please make sure you change your password (use a password manager, like Lastpass).
If you used this password anywhere else, change that too! The passwords themselves are stored hashed, but may old accounts still had old, insecure (by today's standards) hashes from back when they where created. This means they can be "cracked" more easily. Other leaked information includes: email, IP, account name.
I'm trying my best to find out more and keep everyone up to date. Discord (http://invite.gg/TerraFirmaCraft) is the best option for up to date news and questions. I'm sorry for this, but the damage has been done. All I can do is try to make sure it doesn't happen again.

I like this mod because his worlds is very big and solid, inducing to create giantic constructions like fortresses, towers, either to create a small houses and correcting surroundings to build needed constructions integrated in it.
When I building a brick walls, I see 4 bricks in each block, but when I create a brick block, i spending 5/4 of bricks. Maybe, when center brick in craft grid is not needed and instead of 4 brick blocks as a result of craft 1 is more logical?

When I want to storing foods, I need to split it sometimes at least once to have a feature to put food for storing in vessel. Is there a feature? I mean, if I want to put 160 oz of food in vessel and one slot of container will be unaccessible and if I want to put >80 oz food in vessel which has just one free slot, it shall not to be done - shall it more easily?

And this one - when I taken a white cedar saplings, in first time I had them 10. When I cut all of leaves from grown trees, I had 8 sapplings. In third time I had 13, in fourth - 4. In five time I haven`t saplings of white cedars anymore and anywhere, but I like these trees for its crown and clean white color of its wood. I`d want to more frequently getting saplings of small trees and less - of huge ones, or to have a feature to get a sapling with high chance - with axe or another instrument.

P.s.: I am Russian, so if you don`t understand me somewhere, please let me know.

It is an intentional feature to only be able to store 80 oz in one slot in small vessels. You can store the full 160 in a single slot in a large vessel though.

Optimally, you can store 320 oz in a single small vessel, and nine small vessels in a large vessel.

I don't know the exact maths, but some trees giving less saplings (or no saplings) is an intended feature. IIRC, Bioxx (the original developer) stated that they want to represent how deforestation is a real issue in real life too, and that not all resources last forever.

However, if I remember correctly, you get the most saplings by removing the leaves by knife, and the least by removing them with a scythe. Removing by hand is either as good as knife or between knife and scythe, I can't remember. In my experience, most tree types tends to give around 1 sapling per tree average if cleaned completely, but 10 trees is a very small sample size and you might just have been unlucky.

There are three trees which don't drop saplings (Acacia, Kapok, and Sequoia) but the drop rate is the same for all the rest. Using a scythe drops 1/3 less saplings than using your hand. Using a knife drops the same as using your hand (although it may be a little faster, I'm not sure on that point).

Never heard anything about knives for saplings. However best tool for breaking leaves to get saplings are shears. The have same drop rate as your hand, break leaves very quickly and take no durability for doing so.

Like Bunsan said, knives do absolutely nothing. Only shears break leaves faster, and it has the same drop rate as using your hand.

Storing food in large vessels can`t save food in it, isn`t it? I shall check it.

About saplings - uning scythe for catching saplings wasn`t good idea. Shears is optimal choice... and so durable XD

One small qestion - can I melt down damaged items?

No. You can't even melt down undamaged ones. Only things whose temperature changes in forge (ingots, sheets, unfinished armour, knife blades(iron only I believe since they are used for crafting shears, etc) can be melted.

Ceramic vessels (the small ones) are the only containers that slow decay. There are other options (salting, pickling, smoking, etc.) but those require other resources you probably won't have right away.
