      ATTENTION Forum Database Breach   03/04/2019

There has been a breach of our database. Please make sure you change your password (use a password manager, like Lastpass).
If you used this password anywhere else, change that too! The passwords themselves are stored hashed, but may old accounts still had old, insecure (by today's standards) hashes from back when they where created. This means they can be "cracked" more easily. Other leaked information includes: email, IP, account name.
I'm trying my best to find out more and keep everyone up to date. Discord (http://invite.gg/TerraFirmaCraft) is the best option for up to date news and questions. I'm sorry for this, but the damage has been done. All I can do is try to make sure it doesn't happen again.

Remain Cauldron compatible for Minecraft 1.7.10

35 posts in this topic

And yes I will likely only ever play the newest version of this mod, so if he needs cauldron and you invalidate cauldron and he has to stick with a previous version I will leave. It isn't personal, but I will. Even if it is just to play SP.

I don't get this... Like, at all. I you're happy playing 79.15 now, and think that's better than not playing, why would you stop playing 79.15 if a new non-compatible version was released? It's kinda like, I love playing diablo 2, and my computer can't handle diablo 3... But when diablo 3 was released, I didn't stop playng diablo 2 just because there existed a newer game.

@stringburka I like new features. Plain and simple. Left Lite it Up when they didn't update to 79, even though I had a really nice town with its own Parthenon. These devs just do such a good job I always want to try something new and I'm to lazy to keep swapping mods, forge versions etc. just to play an old version. Hope that answers your question. :D

So TFC should stop adding new features so you aren't tempted to leave the cauldron requiring server you play on? I don't get your point.

I think I finally understand where the problem lies. Once  new TFC version  comes out with new features every one wants to try it out and the server administrators need to update as quick as possible because all players are asking for it.

I guess the New Forge version with its new hocks and features has the same kind of appeal to the Mod Developers, as impossible it would be for us to say to our players that we cannot update the server is also impossible for the Devs to not use the new forge, they wait for the forge releases with the same kind of anticipation that we wait for the TFC releases.

So yeah I understand the Developers reluctance in agreeing to hold off any future Forge updates.

Since the answer is  obvious, I just have to Thank all the Developers of this wonderful Mod. thank you for all the hard work and dedication. If I could ask for one thing it would be to the problem to be acknowledge, because it is real, please don't just dismiss it, in this post you have heard from all the main TFC servers. We came here to tell of a problem that we have.

Once again Thank you, and thanks for listening.

Little update on my side project:

Thanks to prism being open source, I'm now down to implementing all of the events and the rollback functionality.

The database design and logging engine are pretty much a 1 to 1 port of prism (with some adjustments for forge).

This is really good news, now if we can get FE and MyTown to work it would great.

@Dries007 Very nice. Super impressive. Having Prism run natively in Forge would be a huge boon for server owners/admins. I don't have a ton of time, but when the time comes I can try and do a bit of beta testing for you. I'm guessing that you don't need the tl;dr for prism. I'm glad, because it is a lot of info to condense.

@Djakuta Might I suggest starting a fresh thread that could be used to discuss brainstorm ways to move past Cauldron. It would draw others into the discussion and be able to find on search. Giving a run down of what plugins you use and how. I do really feel for you and your situation and do want to help.

So you're the one I should've been hunting all along to get somebody to do something like this?  Sigh. ;)

Seconded, and additionally if something more than circular gesticulation comes out of such a conversation, well, I know a lot of people who would be interested in the results (heavens knows I've only been wanting this for the past two years now).  Talking about Sponge is nice and all, but given the clustermess that is Minecraft 1.8 for mod development (as seen here via the TFC team's choice being just one of many voices on how taxing the update is), having some 1.7.10-friendly solutions would be simply amazing.

*flees back to his silent lurking corner*

I have to point out that we are not whitelisted on MyM, it's an open/public.

On topic: This is a great discussion and something I have been trying to compile as well, a list of forge utilities to help move out of the bukkit era of 1.7. There are several out there, unfortunately it is limited.
