      ATTENTION Forum Database Breach   03/04/2019

There has been a breach of our database. Please make sure you change your password (use a password manager, like Lastpass).
If you used this password anywhere else, change that too! The passwords themselves are stored hashed, but may old accounts still had old, insecure (by today's standards) hashes from back when they where created. This means they can be "cracked" more easily. Other leaked information includes: email, IP, account name.
I'm trying my best to find out more and keep everyone up to date. Discord (http://invite.gg/TerraFirmaCraft) is the best option for up to date news and questions. I'm sorry for this, but the damage has been done. All I can do is try to make sure it doesn't happen again.

Introduce eating of kaolinite, geophagy

5 posts in this topic

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/GeophagyIt helps digestion, has some health benefits but mostly it staves of the psychological effects of hunger as far as I can see. It's an important aspect to have more uses for random things you find in the world, that way the player would learn more about survival, nature and in the end, he'd have more fun.

And what psychological effects in TFC would be staved off? The article talks about it using to help with nausea and poisoning, but neither of those are in TFC either. It's a digestive aid, but TFC doesn't have indigestion, constipation, or diarrhea.

It's an interesting last resort though. TFC has hunger, when when it's low causes...side effects. These are effectively nausea, hunger pains or whatever. If eating Kaolinite stopped the side effects, that would fit in with it's real world use. It might even raise your hunger bar a little, as you'd also feel full, but I wouldn't like to see it used as an alternative food source, as I wouldn't like to see the effects of over use!

The effects of hunger that TFC has are more akin to low blood sugar. Prolonged hunger is like the effects of malnutrition. No amount of clay is going to raise your blood sugar.

It could temporally remove the weakness/mining fatigue effects. I always thought those had less to do with actually being full, but more with feeling hungry, which distracts you from swinging at full strength.

Or, it could fill up some of the hunger bar, but not fill up saturation at all.
