      ATTENTION Forum Database Breach   03/04/2019

There has been a breach of our database. Please make sure you change your password (use a password manager, like Lastpass).
If you used this password anywhere else, change that too! The passwords themselves are stored hashed, but may old accounts still had old, insecure (by today's standards) hashes from back when they where created. This means they can be "cracked" more easily. Other leaked information includes: email, IP, account name.
I'm trying my best to find out more and keep everyone up to date. Discord (http://invite.gg/TerraFirmaCraft) is the best option for up to date news and questions. I'm sorry for this, but the damage has been done. All I can do is try to make sure it doesn't happen again.

[Solved] Can't Find Bushes

7 posts in this topic

Hi! I have started playing tfcraft a month ago playing on various worlds just for fun.

I have started to play on a world that I am actually making progress on and this morning I went exploring looking for berry bushes. I travel south about 800 blocks, not a single bush... :(

I have had other worlds and I had fields of bushes, there were so many. Now, I just don't know what to think.

If you know whats wrong, please tell me!

Thanks!

You are unlucky. The world is a big place, keep looking.

There's nothing wrong with that. 800 blocks are just a little number, people often have to travel more than 10000 blocks just to find something, so there's nothing wrong with that world, just keep searching.

It's possible that you are in a climate that berry bushes cannot grow in. Climates can be thousands of blocks long, so travelling 800 blocks is pretty much nothing. If you open up the F3 debug screen, look at the values for rainfall, the avg bio temp value, and the EVT value. The compare those values to this chart:

http://wiki.terrafirmacraft.com/Berry#Spawning_Requirements

If any of them are outside of those ranges, you will never find berry bushes in that area, and you will need to travel until you find a climate that is within one of those ranges.

Also, you may be considerably closer to the equator and I believe there are fewer spawns of berries at low latitudes. Check your z coordinate. You may have been luck going North instead of South if you're in the Northern Hemisphere.

Latitude has nothing to do with berry bush spawning other than the indirect relationship that it has on climate. If the climate is within the range on the equator, you'll get just as many berry bush spawns as you do in correct climates 10,000 blocks away.

That's true, but it's not that indirect. There's a pretty strong correlation between latitude and temperature and when you're within a few thousand blocks of the equator, you don't see many bio temps under 20 or 25, necessary for a variety of berries. I guess my answer was oversimplified so your answer was definitely more useful.
