      Server Move   09/13/2018

I (Dries007) have recently taken over as main developer and server admin. This involved moving servers to reduce cost. It's likely there will be some more downtime in the future but most  things should be sorted by now. This forum is in dire need of replacement as the software is quite old and can't be easily updated. If you wish to discuss or stay updated, join our discord: https://invite.gg/terrafirmacraft. The forum will remain available to read, but will be locked in the future, when a new system is setup. The forum and wiki are now ad free. If you'd like to contribute to keeping it that way, you can do so via paypal or patreon.

alloy ratio precision requirement

4 posts in this topic

Hello, I recently started a TFC youtube series (so far up to episode 10) and to help me remember things I started an excel page.  The page lets me enter the different target requirements, then I enter how much of each quality of ore I have and the sheet calculates the total units of ore and what percent of each I have.  I am wondering how accurate the alloy recipes need to be.

For example.  To make bronze you need between 8% and 12% cassiterite and the remaining amount (88% - 92%) needs to be copper. How precise does this need to be?  Does it round up and down or does it need to be exactly within those perameters?

Would 7.8% cassiterite and 92.2% copper work...?

thanks...

It doesn't. The 8-12% ratio is already giving you room for some imprecision. Those two numbers are the limits, you can't exceed the 12% nor can you use less than 8% of tin.

In essence, it must be exactly within that range, otherwise we would have put "7.5% to 12.4%" on the wiki or something. In reality, sometimes the math screws up, and to allow for that we do allow some rounding, but it's more like 7.999% to 12.001% will work, and you can't be outside of that range.

Also, if you haven't already I would strongly suggest you check out the Addons & Applications subforum, as there are already a bunch of apps and spreadsheets available for doing what you are trying to make.
