[Solved] Cant extract alcohol out of barrel. Feature?

With the new barrel rewrite, I can't remove any alcohol.  I made too much and dont have enough vinegar so I wanted to split it into 2 barrels.  I saw some notes about getting drunk so I assumed you could drink it at least.  But I can't get anything out of it.  tried using buckets, jugs, putting buckets/jugs in the slot.  Am I stuck with a full barrel of alcohol until I find enough fruit or potatoes to fill it?

stuck? in case of need you should be able to just empty the barrel, obviously losing the alcohol - less fun than drinking it [:-)Just press the "Empty" button after opening the barrels GUI

Nah, just increase your "Drunkenness" skill until you max it out. Then equip it to your hot-bar and GO-GO-GOooooooooooo... Chug chug chug chug!*

Adding a note since neither Cheuberger's or Hector49er's responses were actually a helpful answer to your question.

 

You need to use glass bottles to get alcohol out of a barrel. Make sure you click the arrow on the interface so it is in "out" mode.

 

The "Empty" button that CHeuberger mentioned will destroy the alcohol. Since you just want to remove some of it so you can turn the rest into vinegar, you should not press that button.

 

The "Drunkeness" skill that Hector79er mentioned is completely useless since you couldn't figure out how to get it out of the barrel to drink in the first place. Also, that is not an actual skill, but increasing your XP levels will increase your alcohol tolerance, so you can drink more before seeing the negative side effects.

thinking about it, can't you also use glass bottles to transfer alcohol from one barrel to another?

Yes you can, but it would take a very long time since they don't hold very much.
