      ATTENTION Forum Database Breach   03/04/2019

There has been a breach of our database. Please make sure you change your password (use a password manager, like Lastpass).
If you used this password anywhere else, change that too! The passwords themselves are stored hashed, but may old accounts still had old, insecure (by today's standards) hashes from back when they where created. This means they can be "cracked" more easily. Other leaked information includes: email, IP, account name.
I'm trying my best to find out more and keep everyone up to date. Discord (http://invite.gg/TerraFirmaCraft) is the best option for up to date news and questions. I'm sorry for this, but the damage has been done. All I can do is try to make sure it doesn't happen again.

[Solved] Lag freezes frequently

7 posts in this topic

Have you read, understood, and followed all of the rules listed in large text at the top of the support forum? (Yes/No):Yes

TFC Version #: 0.79.18 Forge Version #: 10.13.2.1291 SSP/SMP (SinglePlayer/MultiPlayer): SSP Description: I tried playing TFC but in newly generated worlds every 5-10 seconds the game lags extremly (freezes for about a second). Here is a sample from my logs:

[10:39:17] [Client thread/INFO]: Warning: Clientside chunk ticking took 146 ms[10:39:17] [Client thread/WARN]: Something's taking too long! 'root.tick.level.chunkCache' took aprox 146.08692 ms[10:39:17] [Client thread/WARN]: Something's taking too long! 'root.tick.level' took aprox 147.031832 ms[10:39:18] [Client thread/WARN]: Something's taking too long! 'root.tick.level.chunkCache.recheckGaps' took aprox 125.1388 ms

My PC: i5-4570 CPU, 8GB RAM, Radeon R9 270 VGA. Render distance set to 8. All settings on low/fast.

After testing a while I installed Optifine Standard, no improvement. Then installed Optifine Ultra for the multi-core chunk load and "Removes Lag Spikes", but lags still causing trouble.

My testing method is that I generate a new world and when it loads i start to run in one direction with jumping. Sometimes I go into creative mode and fly and follow that direction. Lag occurs more frequently when I'm at continents/huge lands.

Here's a screenshot showing huge tick spikes: http://i.imgur.com/37Yi2Lp.png

Have you deleted your config files or are using default configs and are still able to reproduce this bug? (Yes/No): Yes. It's a completly new installation of Minecraft and TFC. Do you have any mods other than Forge and TFC installed? (Yes/No): YesIf yes, which mods? Optifine If you have Optifine or Cauldron installed, can you still reproduce the bug after uninstalling them? (Yes/No): Yes Pastebin.com link: http://pastebin.com/XfnRkwz8

Sorry if I'm blind and can't find the answer. Thank you for helping me.

I forgot to mention that I also tried out some java settings.
  • no JVM arguments
  • my default value in launcher: -Xmx1G -XX:+UseConcMarkSweepGC -XX:+CMSIncrementalMode -XX:-UseAdaptiveSizePolicy -Xmn128M
  • with -Xincgc
  • changed to -Xmx3G
Still having lags with the above settings.

Here is a debug profile: http://pastebin.com/0YjgHQnr

I just walked in one direction in a huge forest biome.

I've updated my Java from Version 8 Update 31 to the actual Version 8 Update 45.

Graphics: Fast

Render distance: 8

Smooth lighting: Max

FPS limit: Unlimited

Mipmap levels: off

Also switched Minecraft install location from my SSD (840 EVO) to my HDD (2TB Barracuda). No imporevements so I switched back to the SSD.

Still have this problem.

I have had the same thing happen to me whenever I uninstall FastCraft. I have a really old laptop, and run TFC with 1G RAM (The max for my system) and no Optifine. With FastCraft, it runs pretty good. Without it, it lags every few seconds for a second or two, and has numerous chunk errors.

As is noted on the Downloads page, Fastcraft fixes issues with vanilla that aren't noticable there due to the small worlds but are exacerbated by some of the things that TFC does. It doesnt matter how good your computer is, Mojang dropped the ball on lighting calculations. Fastcraft is a must in 1.7.10. Blame Mojang.

Thanks for all the information. Right now everything is working fine. :)

Using Fastcraft and tweaked my java arguments solved the problem.
