      ATTENTION Forum Database Breach   03/04/2019

There has been a breach of our database. Please make sure you change your password (use a password manager, like Lastpass).
If you used this password anywhere else, change that too! The passwords themselves are stored hashed, but may old accounts still had old, insecure (by today's standards) hashes from back when they where created. This means they can be "cracked" more easily. Other leaked information includes: email, IP, account name.
I'm trying my best to find out more and keep everyone up to date. Discord (http://invite.gg/TerraFirmaCraft) is the best option for up to date news and questions. I'm sorry for this, but the damage has been done. All I can do is try to make sure it doesn't happen again.

Roofing?

4 posts in this topic

This isn't a bug, so I'm not sure if this question should be in the Support forum, if it is, would a mod please move it?

This is driving me absolutely crazy to the point that it's making me not even want to play sadly. It's been quite a long time since I've played, and there's been a good bit of gravity changes and such. (I believe last time I played, we used cobblestone for walls and roof) I know thatch works for roofing.  And it's quite nice for it overall. But the problem is... what ELSE can I possibly use for roofing? It seems like every single idea I could come up with to have a solid block on the roof, I get told is gravity affected and either wouldn't work at all for a roof, or would be so annoying to have it used as a roof material as to be useless.. dirt, cobblestone, stone, wood... I'd like to have some sort of a solid roof over my metal-working area, that won't catch on fire. (I have my walls like 5 or 6 high, something like that, just so that my partial thatch roof won't catch on fire, although I still have to have the thatch at least two blocks to the side of directly overhead or else they'll still catch on fire)  And would like solid blocks in the roof to be able to attach trapdoor's for chimneys.  And just would like to have more design choice.

I'm guessing that my thought of 'only thatch can be used' is incorrect, and that I AM missing some obvious choices, but... with every choice being wrong, I'm starting to get a bit drained at trying to think of it, and was hoping some people here might be able to give me help/a list of ideas that I can use.  Any help is appreciated.

And just to mention, overall.. I love TFC and honestly do feel that this is the way minecraft SHOULD be played.

The only blocks that are affected by gravity are Dirt, Gravel, Sand and Cobblestone.

As for non-flammable building blocks, to name just a few there's raw stone, smooth stone and bricks.

There's also glass and all the stained glass blocks if you want skylights, although I'm not sure if trapdoors will attach to those or not.

Thank you Kitty, apparently I'd been told wrong then. I'd been told by another player that ALL stone, along with logs were affected by gravity. Going to have to yell at him later :P

I usually set up a chimney of sorts so that things don't catch on fire and use wood as roofs, so anything flamable is isolated from the fire sources.
