      ATTENTION Forum Database Breach   03/04/2019

There has been a breach of our database. Please make sure you change your password (use a password manager, like Lastpass).
If you used this password anywhere else, change that too! The passwords themselves are stored hashed, but may old accounts still had old, insecure (by today's standards) hashes from back when they where created. This means they can be "cracked" more easily. Other leaked information includes: email, IP, account name.
I'm trying my best to find out more and keep everyone up to date. Discord (http://invite.gg/TerraFirmaCraft) is the best option for up to date news and questions. I'm sorry for this, but the damage has been done. All I can do is try to make sure it doesn't happen again.

Catching up after a long break, I started a new world.

I decided that I wasn't going to settle anywhere until I found a place which met the following criteria:

-Average Temperature between 18 and 20 (seems to be the best for growing the most fruits, berries, vegetables, and sugar cane.)

-Sea level height (mountains are fine as a backdrop but I don't want to live up high.)

-Near ocean (gotta have access to brine and seaweed is kinda important in the beginning.)

-Near a fresh water lake (need drinking water and I'm not sure that seawater works with farming.)

-Biome top layer some kind of igneous rock (they're the prettiest to build with and the most useful in general.)

-At least 1000 rainfall.

-Hopefully at least a 2 EVT.

I found a really ideal location after a LOT of trekking.

A flat forest (somehow classified as plains and swamp) just crammed with chestnut trees where a giant freshwater lake meets the ocean.  The upper crust consists of diorite and there is strong signs of bismuth.

I have had to go roaming for sheep, copper, and cassiterite.  But I found some not very far off, less than 1000 cubits (I don't understand why no one uses that term... it makes so much sense in minecraft.)

Not much of a home yet, just a safety wall made of a ditch and some hickory logs but it'll serve.

I left my camp in late summer to go foraging for minerals and whatever else I could find.  Large pot full of smaller pots on my back.  I'm all full of good stuff now and limping home toward the end of November of my first year.

Things are shaping up nicely.

I do like discussion threads like these that detail a player's adventures in this mod.  Do you have any updates?

Sounds like a daunting set of criteria. I have a hard time deciding where I want to live. There are so many things that are nice to have nearby. I'm just thankful I spawned in a relatively warm area in my first world.

Yeah, I thought I was going to be wandering around forever, fortunately the world I rolled up had a perfect spot and I stumbled on it after only a few months of wandering.

So far downsides are that I haven't found any cattle yet and the forest has proven quite aggressive in its regrowth.

I'm taking pictures as I progress with the idea in mind of showing a collage at some point.

I guess I missed this question before.  I actually started a topic on this called Shiphty's Shiftless Slog.
