      ATTENTION Forum Database Breach   03/04/2019

There has been a breach of our database. Please make sure you change your password (use a password manager, like Lastpass).
If you used this password anywhere else, change that too! The passwords themselves are stored hashed, but may old accounts still had old, insecure (by today's standards) hashes from back when they where created. This means they can be "cracked" more easily. Other leaked information includes: email, IP, account name.
I'm trying my best to find out more and keep everyone up to date. Discord (http://invite.gg/TerraFirmaCraft) is the best option for up to date news and questions. I'm sorry for this, but the damage has been done. All I can do is try to make sure it doesn't happen again.

[Solved] Forge and Rain?

10 posts in this topic

Not really a bug, at least I don't think so... but more like a question. Has forges been changed so that they NEVER work when it rains, or am I doing something wrong? I have a hole open in the ceiling one block to the side of where the forge is for use as a chimney (even have a trapdoor on the hole). The 'chimney' works just fine, since the forge works. But, when it rains, the forge will not work, even though the chimney is a block to the side, instead of directly above the forge. Any thoughts?

What block is directly above your forge? Has it been chiseled with stair, detail or slab mode? Also, the information from the template you deleted would have been extremely helpful to solve this issue.

My apologies Kitty. You've been truly wonderful and a big help to me many times, last thing I wish to do is make things more difficult for you.  Since it wasn't a crash or anything like that, I hadn't actually thought about the template.

In any case, it's smooth marble, and yes, I'd sliced the very top part of the block off with a chisel so that mobs couldn't spawn on the roof.

Have you read, understood, and followed all of the rules listed in large text at the top of the support forum? (Yes/No): Yes

Answering "no" to the above question will result in your post being deleted.

TFC Version #: 0.79.20 Forge Version #: 13.13.4.1448 Please note that an actual number must be provided for both of the above fields.Simply saying "current" or "latest" will result in your post being locked, due to the fact that in a large number of cases, users who say they are using the "latest" or "current" version are actually using an outdated version. SSP/SMP (SinglePlayer/MultiPlayer): SMP Description: Have a block above my forge, a chimney to the side of the forge.  The chimney works to allow the forge air to work, but the forge does not work when it rains. Have you deleted your config files or are using default configs and are still able to reproduce this bug? (Yes/No): I have not deleted them, but have not edited them either. If you answered no to the above question, delete all 3 TFC config files (TFCCrafting, TFCOptions, TFCOre), do NOT edit or add to any of the files, and try to reproduce the bug. This question is here because many bugs are caused by mistakes in config files. All bug reports should have an answer of "Yes" to this question. Do you have any mods other than Forge and TFC installed? (Yes/No): YesIf yes, which mods? CodeChickenCore 1.0.7.46, NotEnoughItems 1.0.5.111, Waila 1.5.10, Fastcraft 1.21, Journeymap 5.1.0, Optifine 1.7.10 HD U C1 If you have Optifine or Cauldron installed, can you still reproduce the bug after uninstalling them? (Yes/No): No. If I need to uninstall it to check, I can, but since this doesn't feel like a graphical, memory, or corruptive situation, I was thinking Optifine's not the issue. If you answered no to the above question, uninstall Optifine/Cauldron and try to reproduce the bug. Both Optifine and Cauldron edit the base classes of forge that TFC uses. Because of this, we cannot officially support any issues that happen only when these mods are installed. In the majority of cases, TFC is not causing the bug; Optifine/Cauldron is and TFC can do nothing to fix it.All bug reports should have an answer of "Yes" to this question. If you refuse to uninstall Optifine/Cauldron, and cannot reproduce the bug when the mods are not installed, do not bother making a bug report, as it will be locked and ignored. Pastebin.com link of the Crash Report:

That's your problem. A slab block that isn't flush with the top of the 1m^3 isn't considered a solid block, and therefore that is actually your "chimney". You need a block there that takes up the whole space in order to block it being the chimney.

*laughs*  Figured it would be my fault :P   I'll get that taken care of shortly.  Thank you for that, sorry to have bothered ya with something so simple.

It's alright. :) The main thing I wanted from the template by the way was the version numbers, because if it had been a glass block and a slightly older version of TFC, then it would be because glass blocks aren't solid in that version for blocking chimneys.

Aaaaaah, gotcha. Should I always use the template still, or when it's something that I feel is probably going to be more simple (like this one)  just giving you the version numbers for the mods will suffice?  Oh, and is there a way for me to seal the topic myself/say its solved, anything like that?

When in doubt, use the template. Too much information is rarely a problem compared to not having enough information. To mark your post as solved, go up to the original post of the topic and click Edit, then click on Use Full Editor and at the top of that screen will be an option to edit the topic title. Just add [solved] to the start of the title.

*nods*  Good point.  I think part of my worry was that I apparently can't read right and had thought it said I HAD to delete the configs. And I hadn't wanted to close down my server at the moment to do that. lol In any case, I'll try to do better next time. You all are wonderful, and TFC is just about the ONLY reason I still play minecraft honestly.

Oh, I think I can see where you might have gotten that thought. I've updated the template to make that a bit clearer.
