      ATTENTION Forum Database Breach   03/04/2019

There has been a breach of our database. Please make sure you change your password (use a password manager, like Lastpass).
If you used this password anywhere else, change that too! The passwords themselves are stored hashed, but may old accounts still had old, insecure (by today's standards) hashes from back when they where created. This means they can be "cracked" more easily. Other leaked information includes: email, IP, account name.
I'm trying my best to find out more and keep everyone up to date. Discord (http://invite.gg/TerraFirmaCraft) is the best option for up to date news and questions. I'm sorry for this, but the damage has been done. All I can do is try to make sure it doesn't happen again.

[0.79.18] The Equator?

5 posts in this topic

I got really, really, lucky with this spawn. After playing for a coupe days (irl) I was able to collect every type of crop. But, that's not the good part. You spawn around this fresh water lake at x: 632 z: -7743 in a High Hills Edge biome. Directly East of you around x: 828 z: -7754 is two more bodies of fresh water (this is where I set up my original camp and then turned it into my permanent home). This is the good part; around those bodies of water, you can grow most crops year round. This got me to believe you spawn at the Equator of the world. Why is this so good, you ask. Food is a major priority and to be able to grow it year round is a major plus. Still not convinced? Well, I honestly don't know what to tell you, then.

Growing crops year round makes up for he scarcity of copper in my personal opinion. And it's no even the fact copper is limited, it's just a fair distance away from spawn.

FYI z=o is equator z=+/-30000 is arctic/Antarctic circle.

Really? Hm. Well to the best of my knowledge the only TFC area where crops can grow year round is and only is at the worlds equator. Include the fact that, even with the TFC changes, every MC world is different, all I have to say is hop off.

That is not correct. The equator is always and will always be at Z=0. However, generally speaking it's generally too hot to grow crops year round at the equator, so you want to be a few thousand blocks away so that way it's a nice warm temperature.

I ask that in the future you please give our moderators respect, because they know what they are talking about and a developer should not have to correct you for trying to correct them.

Nope where crops can grow depends on the coldest day of the year and the cold tolerance of the crop. In fact at the equator it is too hot during parts of the year for any crop to grow. They don't die, but they will stop growing.

MC and TFC are procedurally generated, but in all TFC worlds the z coordinate is hard coded to latitude. http://wiki.terrafirmacraft.com/Coordinates#Latitude
