      ATTENTION Forum Database Breach   03/04/2019

      There has been a breach of our database. Please make sure you change your password (use a password manager, like Lastpass).
      If you used this password anywhere else, change that too! The passwords themselves are stored hashed, but may old accounts still had old, insecure (by today's standards) hashes from back when they where created. This means they can be "cracked" more easily. Other leaked information includes: email, IP, account name.
      I'm trying my best to find out more and keep everyone up to date. Discord (http://invite.gg/TerraFirmaCraft) is the best option for up to date news and questions. I'm sorry for this, but the damage has been done. All I can do is try to make sure it doesn't happen again.

WAILA Animal Support

I've started working on WAILA support for animals. Here's what I've done so far:

  • The word "Baby" appears before the animal's name if it is not an adult.
  • The gender of the animal appears after the name with the ♂ or ♀ signs.
  • If the animal is pregnant, the phrase "Pregnant : " appears, followed by the due date the animal is expected to give birth on.
  • The word "Familiarized" is followed by either a green check or a red x depending on if the animal has been familiarized in the past 24 hours.
  • Off by default, can turn on in waila config screen - The phrase "Familiarity : " appears, followed by the percent familiarized. This is off by default because you can already tell with the heart icon.
  • For adult female cows, the world "Milk" appears followed by a green check or a red x depending on if the cow can be milked.

Is there anything else you would like to see displayed? I tried adding a display for hunger, but it's a bit wonky since that is calculated every tick and will pretty much never display 100%, so I removed it.

When is the number of piglets decided upon? At birth or earlier?

The number of piglets is decided at the moment the pig gives birth.

There's no point in adding an 'in love' indicator, because vanilla Minecraft already does that by spamming heart particles everywhere, and it only lasts a few seconds. You feed the animal, you see heart particles, you have about 30 seconds and then the animal is no longer in love. That's it.

 

The reason that I added the due date for pregnancies is that there is no visual indicator of how far along the pregnancy is. When it comes to animals growing up though, in TFC they slowly get bigger and bigger until they are full size. It's not like in vanilla where suddenly poof the baby is an adult and twice the size.

What about an indicator showing if eggs are fetilized or not? Or something to how the time left to hatch.

That is already an indicator on the nest box. It's actually the nest box that is spawning eggs, and it doesn't know if the egg is going to be fertilized until the moment it spawns it and checks for both a hen and a rooster.

What about genetic traits?

What about them? There's only really 2 traits right now. Size, which is already visible because the animal is actually larger if they will drop more meat when you butcher them, and aggression/obedience that affects nothing more than how quickly you can familiarize the animal and even then the difference is negligible for high vs low aggression

Sorry to go off topic, but since we are talking about animals.....

You said only size and aggressiveness.

What about for Horses, we noticed some can jump higher and are faster.

Can we Breed those features into the offspring?

Yes, those can be bred into the offspring. Those traits are specific to only horses though, and I'm not quite sure it's 100% working as expected to be honest.
