      Server Move   09/13/18

I (Dries007) have recently taken over as main developer and server admin. This involved moving servers to reduce cost. It's likely there will be some more downtime in the future but most  things should be sorted by now. This forum is in dire need of replacement as the software is quite old and can't be easily updated. If you wish to discuss or stay updated, join our discord: https://invite.gg/terrafirmacraft. The forum will remain available to read, but will be locked in the future, when a new system is setup. The forum and wiki are now ad free. If you'd like to contribute to keeping it that way, you can do so via paypal or patreon.

[0.79.21] Desert Spawn

13 posts in this topic

Came across quite the rare seed when randomly generating a new world to test something out. Spawns you in the middle of a desert climate.

Seed: 8769926041187293990

I thought deserts were perhaps a myth as I had personally never seen one... Cool to know they are at least possible :)

I never came across a desert biome in TFC. However what do you mean by "A new world to set something out)?

She was just generating a new world to test things likely for build 0.79.22. This is normal practice.

I still think peat is a myth. I've NEVER EVER found a single block ;)

Granted, I've never seen a desert either, but I don't often venture past (-)5000 X.

Very nice.  Thank you.

Is the sand type dictated by the Geome, or is it always the same?

It actually isn't a desert biome, which don't exist in 79, it is an area that had such low rainfall that it generates desert. AFAIK the sand type is dictated by the upper rock layer, which is determined independently.

I am totally with you on the peat block! Peat blocks, deserts, barren tundra are all just fantastic hearsay until a seed is posted! I am going to start a thread where we in the community can post those ultra rare seeds :) let's see how long it takes to find peat!

Okay. The sand type is dictated by the Geome(rock type) then, rather than there just being a generic desert sand.  Makes sense. Thanks.

I haven't been to the forums for a few months, and I'm glad to see this! I came on specifically because I was wondering about desert seeds. I think I might try it out for a while, just for that extra bit of challenge. :)
