      ATTENTION Forum Database Breach   03/04/2019

There has been a breach of our database. Please make sure you change your password (use a password manager, like Lastpass).
If you used this password anywhere else, change that too! The passwords themselves are stored hashed, but may old accounts still had old, insecure (by today's standards) hashes from back when they where created. This means they can be "cracked" more easily. Other leaked information includes: email, IP, account name.
I'm trying my best to find out more and keep everyone up to date. Discord (http://invite.gg/TerraFirmaCraft) is the best option for up to date news and questions. I'm sorry for this, but the damage has been done. All I can do is try to make sure it doesn't happen again.

Burlap cloth for bed?

8 posts in this topic

Have you read, understood, and followed all of the rules listed in large text at the top of the suggestions forum?(Yes/No): YesAnswering "no" to the above question will result in your post being deleted. So my idea is to make the burlap cloth to have the ability to make a sleeping bed. Waiting the night to pass is really boring thing, you can easily protect yourself from mobs until morning. Why to make the burlap cloth to be able to craft a bed? Cause sheep is also hard to find.

Burlap was Dunk's idea, and he's no longer a developer.

Of course, jute has a use already, but there was also stuff in the Wiki about possible grain preservation I was really looking forward too. We have lots of ways to preserve meat, veggies, fruits and cheese, but the only way to make grains stay longer is to refine them. Maybe we could make little bags to preserve grains? Or they could be used like ceramic vessels to store food. (Probably with some extra decay reducing bonus because ceramic vessels are way cheaper, you don't want to spend precious jute fiber at just plain storage).

As for the bed, I like the idea of really struggling for making a bed. Says a person who haven't made one yet in their world. Many things in TerraFirmaCraft take a lot more effort to do than in vanilla, such as tools, armor, just a plain crafting bench and planks. I don't know another mod which end-game items include a normal vanilla bucket. I, personally, find the process of making a bed fair enough. For others, though, it's not like that.

Staying trough the night and doing nothing is boring. They should look into it, at least they need to make the straw and hide bed to be able to sleep trough the night but if u remove it, it gets destroyed or something.

What's the rationale behind making a straw/hide bed "disappear in a puff of smoke" if you "break" it?

I would tend to agree that a burlap cloth bed has potential - sheep are often *very* hard to find, and you need to kill shedloads of spiders to get anywhere near enough spider silk :)Maybe burlap cloth with an animal hide on a "bedframe" could make a sleepable bed?

There's already been extensive discussion about how to make the night enjoyable. There's things you can do so that you don't have to just sit and wait the night away. The night is dangerous, and that's the way we intend it to be. If you want to skip through the night so you don't have to deal with mobs, why not just play on peaceful?

kitty is right on that point, peaceful mode exists and there no reason to add another bed just to add another bed that could be easier to sleep earlier. Skipping nights is an advanced bonus that is only enjoyable when you have already suffered from zombies and monsters of the nights. But maybe another design to replace that dull vanilla bed could fit better.
