      ATTENTION Forum Database Breach   03/04/2019

There has been a breach of our database. Please make sure you change your password (use a password manager, like Lastpass).
If you used this password anywhere else, change that too! The passwords themselves are stored hashed, but may old accounts still had old, insecure (by today's standards) hashes from back when they where created. This means they can be "cracked" more easily. Other leaked information includes: email, IP, account name.
I'm trying my best to find out more and keep everyone up to date. Discord (http://invite.gg/TerraFirmaCraft) is the best option for up to date news and questions. I'm sorry for this, but the damage has been done. All I can do is try to make sure it doesn't happen again.

Support beams and lights

6 posts in this topic

I have an idea of making support beams able to have lights put on them. Another thing you could do with this is put immersive engineerings wire connectors on the support beams and wire between the connectors and then power lights with the wires.

Heres an example of electric lighting.

Here is an example of an oil lamp in a mine.

Electric lights are outside the time-frame of TFC. The oil lanterns in that picture are also a later technology than the simple oil lamps, which cannot be hung, that are implemented in TFC.

A simple hanging bowl of oil with a wick was used pretty far back, with the downside of being damn easy to spill.

Sorry if this isn't the right place to say this, but is keeping to "the time frame" of tfc really all that important? Wouldn't it be better to include stuff that would provide more things to do, especially since tfc has no specially designed "goal"?

The moment we step out of the "time frame" of TFC, we infinitely increase the scope of the mod. It's an insanely huge mod as it is, so by sticking to a specific time frame we limit how much work as a developer we will ever have to do.

Removing the time frame cap doesn't mean you have to do more work, it just opens doors for the mod to go through.
