      ATTENTION Forum Database Breach   03/04/2019

There has been a breach of our database. Please make sure you change your password (use a password manager, like Lastpass).
If you used this password anywhere else, change that too! The passwords themselves are stored hashed, but may old accounts still had old, insecure (by today's standards) hashes from back when they where created. This means they can be "cracked" more easily. Other leaked information includes: email, IP, account name.
I'm trying my best to find out more and keep everyone up to date. Discord (http://invite.gg/TerraFirmaCraft) is the best option for up to date news and questions. I'm sorry for this, but the damage has been done. All I can do is try to make sure it doesn't happen again.

Underground Ecology

Again, remember, it is better, faster, and more efficient to pump clean air into a mine, than to pump dirty, or stagnant air out of a mine.

i am all for the idea of underground ecology, though i staarted thinking more to the geology deep underground and how it could effect a player.

i saw that like me you thought of underground rivers and lakes, what if there were hot springs that gave off gas? what about in some locations near water you could come across bioluminesant alge or bacteria?

in some locations very far below the ground, you could find rare dence ores like radium or urananite that give off a green or blue glow?

i have a thread on underground rivers and lakes that you can take ideas from, as i believe they belong on this page.

I would certainly love to see some variety in the underground. Anything added to the underground would be attractive to me, because there currently is almost no reason to go underground unless you are looking for ore or stone.

If some sort of gas/environmental damage is added, that would give us a use for some of the useless ores. Carbon filters!

This posts interests me very much so... I like the entire thing even though I live above ground. I really do think many would enjoy this.

The fact that plants produce air underground seem cool but remember that plants need sunlight to survive. Maybe a substitute for natural light, like those glowing mushrooms. It should be livable is a certain radius of certain plants. Herbs, maybe, since they have 'supernatural' properties. But the herbs should also wilt and die eventually because of a lack of real sunlight. TFCraft is supposed to make things more realistic, but the prospect of living underground is a bit weird, but I still think its cool. A big insect would be great, like an Elder Scrolls Chaurus. Spiders are overrated.

Just before i start, id like to let you know that TFC aims to be believable, not realistic, so be careful as some people will rip your head off when you say "realistic" or anything close to it.

Any way i believe that plants and the alike would be a great implementation to caves, as it would give caves more of the "this is the bears hideout" feel, and could also add a nice mossy/jungle feel. On the talk of gasses from the earlier posts, canaries used to be put in cages, and brought down to the mine with the mine manager, and the bird would always be present while there were miners present. If the bird started to go funny, or died it would mean that poison gas (methane ect) was starting to fill the mine, and the miners would evacutate. Canaries were used because they were very sensitive, and hence detected even the slightest changes.

Finally conquered the arctic, this definitely needs to be implemented. Even if it makes it near impossible to survive without surfacing at least it would make a challenge for those that have colored steel and endless resources to through at developing a dwarven city.
