      ATTENTION Forum Database Breach   03/04/2019

There has been a breach of our database. Please make sure you change your password (use a password manager, like Lastpass).
If you used this password anywhere else, change that too! The passwords themselves are stored hashed, but may old accounts still had old, insecure (by today's standards) hashes from back when they where created. This means they can be "cracked" more easily. Other leaked information includes: email, IP, account name.
I'm trying my best to find out more and keep everyone up to date. Discord (http://invite.gg/TerraFirmaCraft) is the best option for up to date news and questions. I'm sorry for this, but the damage has been done. All I can do is try to make sure it doesn't happen again.

[SOLVED] Game crashes every time i join my single player world

3 posts in this topic

Have you read, understood, and followed all of the rules listed in large text at the top of the support forum? (Yes/No): Yes
Answering "no" to the above question will result in your post being deleted.

TFC Version #: TerraFirmaCraft-079.28.908
Forge Version #:  1.7.10-Forge10.13.4.1558
Please note that an actual number must be provided for both of the above fields.
Simply saying "current" or "latest" will result in your post being locked, due to the fact that in a large number of cases, users who say they are using the "latest" or "current" version are actually using an outdated version.

SSP/SMP (SinglePlayer/MultiPlayer): SSP

Have you deleted your config files or are using default configs and are still able to reproduce this bug? (Yes/No): Yes
If you answered no to the above question, delete all 3 TFC config files (TFCCrafting, TFCConfig, TFCOre), do NOT edit or add to any of the files, and try to reproduce the bug.
This question is here because many bugs are caused by mistakes in config files. If you are unable to delete your edited config files, please provide a list of the config options you have changed.

Do you have any mods other than Forge and TFC installed? (Yes/No): No
If yes, which mods?

If you have Optifine or Cauldron installed, can you still reproduce the bug after uninstalling them? (Yes/No):
If you answered no to the above question, uninstall Optifine/Cauldron and try to reproduce the bug.
Both Optifine and Cauldron edit the base classes of forge that TFC uses. Because of this, we cannot officially support any issues that happen only when these mods are installed. In the majority of cases, TFC is not causing the bug; Optifine/Cauldron is and TFC can do nothing to fix it.
All bug reports should have an answer of "Yes" to this question. If you refuse to uninstall Optifine/Cauldron, and cannot reproduce the bug when the mods are not installed, do not bother making a bug report, as it will be locked and ignored.

Pastebin.com link of the Crash Report: http://pastebin.com/bKETYdk7

Description: I played TFC for around an hour one day, and now today whenever i try to join my single player world, my game crashes. The Offical Bug list states to "Make sure you are installing TFC in its own game directory that is separate from your .minecraft folder." Now, I'm not the best with technical stuff so I don't know what it is implying by its own game directory. If there is a simple answer, it would be much appreciated, thank you.

Before I answer, I just want to say thank you for showing that you actually read the Official Bug List. So many people who report this crash don't even do that, and it's really frustrating.

The basic explanation is that you recently played Minecraft 1.8, and while you were playing Minecraft 1.8 you used the new feature of setting your render distance to a number higher than 16. However, you forgot to set that number back down to a number lower than 16 before you switched back to Minecraft 1.7.10, and that's why the game is crashing.

"Directory" is just a fancy word for "folder." By default, Minecraft uses the .minecraft folder as the Game Directory for everything, which means that the settings file is the exact same one for every version that you play.

Here's two quick and dirty ways to fix the crash, but they aren't permanent and you'll have to do them every time you play 1.8 and then go back to 1.7.10. Alternatively, I explain the solution listed on the official bug list later in this post.

1. Go to your .minecraft folder and find the options.txt file. Open it up with a text editor of your choice (like notepad) and find where the render distance option is in the file. Set the number to 16 or smaller, and then save the file.

2. Launch Minecraft 1.8 and use the options screen to set your render distance back to a value of 16 or smaller. You might need to open up a single player world in 1.8 to do this.

The permanent solution is to edit the Game Directory setting for your 1.7.10 profile. When you are using the vanilla launcher, you have the profiles that you use to switch versions on the bottom left. Select the one you are using for TFC, and then click on Edit Profile. You'll need to create a new folder somewhere as the new place for Minecraft to save all of its files when you play using that profile. This can be in your documents, on your desktop, or anywhere you like. Then on the Edit Profile screen you just put the location of that new folder that you created (example C:\Users\Username\MyDocuments\Minecraft). Once you do that, the game will stop using the .minecraft folder when it saves the files for the 1.7.10 profile and you don't have to worry about the game trying to use the render distance you set while playing 1.8 as the render distance while playing 1.7.10. One final thing to note is that you will need to go to your .minecraft folder and copy over any world saves or resource packs that you were using with 1.7.10 to your new folder.

Thank you so much for replying! It wasn't working before when i had previously changed the render distance to something lower than 16, but making a new folder definitely helped.
