      ATTENTION Forum Database Breach   03/04/2019

      There has been a breach of our database. Please make sure you change your password (use a password manager, like Lastpass).
      If you used this password anywhere else, change that too! The passwords themselves are stored hashed, but may old accounts still had old, insecure (by today's standards) hashes from back when they where created. This means they can be "cracked" more easily. Other leaked information includes: email, IP, account name.
      I'm trying my best to find out more and keep everyone up to date. Discord (http://invite.gg/TerraFirmaCraft) is the best option for up to date news and questions. I'm sorry for this, but the damage has been done. All I can do is try to make sure it doesn't happen again.

Just a quick idea for fishing:

 

You would have to attach bait to the fishing rod in order to attract fish. The bait can be any food item of any size, but larger pieces of food would give you better chances of getting larger fish. The larger the fish is, the harder it would be to reel it in successfully.

 

In addition, a system could be put in place so if you fish excessively in one area (possibly chunk-based), that area will no longer be able to find any fish. They could slowly regenerate over time if it is saltwater (assuming an ocean connection), but will only regenerate in fresh water if the "population" of fish is above 0. Salt water could have a higher limit than fresh water too, in order to make living near the ocean somewhat beneficial.

 

Fishing would essentially be a way to multiply your food, and to balance it, you could be required to forge or cast a hook with metal, which would take damage over time. It would be great if the recipe could have a tiny piece of wood or something for the bobber, and reflect that in the world-model, as that always bugged me a bit in TFC1.

I sure like your ideas but carefully you're breaking the posting rules, I did it too so I'm not blaming you but read them 10 times before posting, I read em 2 times but I still broke 2 of em xD

Also, maibe the type of line for the fishing rod that you are using would also matter, so maibe the weakest would be wool yarn, then spider string, then some special type of string like wool yarn soaked in tannin or such?? With this, the stronger lines would allow you to catch bigger fish, if the line is too weak, it breaks when the fish catches on and you loose the hook in the process
