      ATTENTION Forum Database Breach   03/04/2019

There has been a breach of our database. Please make sure you change your password (use a password manager, like Lastpass).
If you used this password anywhere else, change that too! The passwords themselves are stored hashed, but may old accounts still had old, insecure (by today's standards) hashes from back when they where created. This means they can be "cracked" more easily. Other leaked information includes: email, IP, account name.
I'm trying my best to find out more and keep everyone up to date. Discord (http://invite.gg/TerraFirmaCraft) is the best option for up to date news and questions. I'm sorry for this, but the damage has been done. All I can do is try to make sure it doesn't happen again.

Create mod to extend day duration

8 posts in this topic

Hey,

is it possible to create a mod to extend day/night cycle, so days are not so short?

I would like to do that the same way like TFC slows down day/night cycle when no players are online.

How can I achieve this? Any ideas?

Reason for this: When we are playing TFC on server, days are very, very short. The problem is that we cannot skip the night because there are so many players playing and its hard to force all of them to go to bed.

Not sure, but doesn't the "Too Much Time" mod allow you to do this?

A few can mods achieve this. I myself use the time scale mod (the actual name is in russian i think, but the file is b3m or something like that. Just look up "time scale mod" and it should be easy to find)

In the end its best to try a few on a ssp world to test and see what wprks best for your needs.

And does it work properly? I've heard that some time modifying mods can break TFC mechanism somehow.

Too much time change day/night ratio according to season (unfortunately independent on latitude).

Is doesn't scale whole day/night 24h period longer, but give interesting opportunities.

In summer, nights are very short, there is still bright till 10PM, and therefore it is right season for exploring. Any tedious household works, for example forging, you can shift to the winter time.

It works fine for me, crops grow and seasons pass perfectly normal. All it does, that i know of, is extend or speed up the rate which ticks pass. I can even set it to go to system time. (If you do that though, NEVER set it back as it will break stuff.)

I think the day-night cycle is part of the game.

I understand how new players could feel frustrated, not knowing what to do during the night.

Older players program their activities so when night falls they work inside the base.

In any case, the night adds a bit of challenge to the game.

I have to admit people have different play styles and are OK for you to look for a mod to get rid of the night, am just offering an opposing point of view.

I have even met some players that loved to go around their bases after dark and kill all mobs to gain exp or just for the trill of it.

i can totally agree with that. in fact im one of those "mowing the lawn with my bow/sword/mace" kinda people when it comes to mob spawns at night around my base. lol. i actually set it so time passes slower for me so i have to wait a bit before getting stuff done. makes me have to learn to efficiently multi task.
