      ATTENTION Forum Database Breach   03/04/2019

      There has been a breach of our database. Please make sure you change your password (use a password manager, like Lastpass).
      If you used this password anywhere else, change that too! The passwords themselves are stored hashed, but may old accounts still had old, insecure (by today's standards) hashes from back when they where created. This means they can be "cracked" more easily. Other leaked information includes: email, IP, account name.
      I'm trying my best to find out more and keep everyone up to date. Discord (http://invite.gg/TerraFirmaCraft) is the best option for up to date news and questions. I'm sorry for this, but the damage has been done. All I can do is try to make sure it doesn't happen again.

  1. Fighting Skills

    I kinda wanna throw my two cents into here on why I feel a more fleshed out combat system would be a great change of pace. Terrafirmacraft is a mod aimed to make the world a minecraft a more realistic place. As far as the world goes at the time of terrafirmacraft, people farmed, mined, traded, and fought. Since there is not a HUGE player base for this mod given its slow pace and difficulty, it seems most people (me personally) are forced to play with a small group of friends (2-4) or solo. This eliminates the need for a currency to be added to the game since even if you happen to find a decently large server there are other mods (custom NPCs) that adds in its own currency. From what I do know of the TFC community is that PVP is big. Why not get a more fleshed out combat system? I am not sure that I am a fan of "leveling" up since it pushes away new players when there is no moderation of level difference nor am I a fan of just giving everyone every skill. I have no good answer to solve this issue. The easiest methods would be making someone with a much higher level unable to attack lower level people (unrealistic and bad imo) or making the skills learned not directly given but easily learned. Things like scrolls with the techniques written and taught on them would suffice. Making them a random chance to be learned on attack would work to a decent degree as well. I feel like I was all over the place with this, but I think I got most of what I was trying to convey into this post.

    In my opinion, betas are meant to break saves and go through changes. Isn't Terrafirmacraft still a beta? I don't see what the problem is about breaking saves. If someone doesn't want their save broken they wont download it and they will wait til they are ready for a new world to start the new version. This is a mod after all and it is expected to break saves. There aren't many options to avoid it and people will understand that. A lot of people would like to see some of the mobs finished like deers dropping meat, revamped monster mobs (I don't care for fictional mobs in a mod that supposedly have no magical elements, but wouldn't be as annoyed if they only spawned underground or something), etc. and I feel most of us don't care about saves breaking. I planned to start a new world anyway with the new build.

    That is not a bad idea either, however, a crafting table can still be crafted with 4 vanilla planks. You only need a saw to get the planks currently.

    Yeah that is completely fine. The point is more so making planks accessible for things such as a boat/raft so that when you start on an island with nothing but a few trees you can get something that moves faster than swimming to find more land while giving other benefits. I am going to try looking around but with limited knowledge on mods in general I doubt i can make one for Terrafirmacraft but I will probably try.
  5. I want to start off by saying that I really like the ChopALog addon for terrafirmacraft because it makes sense. But at the same time it destroys the purpose of removing chests from the early game. So I would like to make a suggestion. I am not great with code or anything so I don't know which I should make the suggestion to, either the devs or the dev of ChopALog, but I would like to suggest a way to make them more compatible. The idea is the introduction of nails/woodplugs and slightly modified vanilla TFC recipes. I might add pictures later to make more sense but basically things like doors and chest will require nails (copper is fine, but iron makes more sense) so that a chest (same recipe but with a nail in the middle) and a door (same but with a nail in the top left and bottom left corner) can't be made early game but planks can still be made by cutting a log in half on a chopping block. This allows for small but more proper shelters to be built and for a new suggested item of a crate (crafted like a chest but with woodplugs in the middle). These should have less inventory than chests (maybe 6-9 slots) and when broken breaks into planks like a boat since they aren't very durable. Woodplugs should be crafted with a knife and a plank (produces four woodplugs) and nails can have a plan that looks like a side ways T and producing 4-8 nails. I am sorry if this is all over the place. I will try to tidy it up in the future and maybe add some pictures like I had mentioned.
