[Solved][b78]Drastic reduction in performance

Since Built 78, TFC's performance has been much lower than in past versions. Framerate is basically halved on average. Is there that much more going on under the hood? Has anyone else experienced this?

i've no real problem since b78.4 Even run smoother than b77 !

don't use optifine either, i'm on fancy graphics and own a old machine, imac intel core duo 2,33 ghz, 2 go ram.

Me too, it seems in my case the framerate is smooth most of the time but interrupted with lag spikes every 5 seconds or so. The lag spikes can be brief but other times the game hangs for a while, long enough for the sound to cut out temporarily. This is something I din't experience in earlier versions.

It's still playable, just a minor annoyance. It seems that when I hang there's no sudden catch-up afterwards. Instead everything picks up from where it left of at the same pace which makes it much easier to deal with.

I can't speak for Wooph but in my case if there aren't any new chunks being loaded the lag is much less frequent.

After some more testing I've concluded that TFC likely does not have anything to do with this problem. Minecraft 1.6.4 simply performs worse than 1.6.2 by a pretty big margin.

Regardless of what the cause of the performance issues was, I've gotten the game to run much, much better through the use of Light Renderer. If Minecraft/TFC doesn't run as well as you'd like, this mod is highly recommended.
