      ATTENTION Forum Database Breach   03/04/2019

There has been a breach of our database. Please make sure you change your password (use a password manager, like Lastpass).
If you used this password anywhere else, change that too! The passwords themselves are stored hashed, but may old accounts still had old, insecure (by today's standards) hashes from back when they where created. This means they can be "cracked" more easily. Other leaked information includes: email, IP, account name.
I'm trying my best to find out more and keep everyone up to date. Discord (http://invite.gg/TerraFirmaCraft) is the best option for up to date news and questions. I'm sorry for this, but the damage has been done. All I can do is try to make sure it doesn't happen again.

  1. Well, I thought I'd throw this here too. Have a look at this rather obscure mod, it's boats. http://www.minecraftforum.net/forums/mapping-and-modding/minecraft-mods/wip-mods/1442761

I always tend to use this one over one of the "build your own boat" mods that activates a set of blocks to built a boat. I've had problems with those, but the boats in the mod above never gave us much problem on a server. They are a bit slower than vanilla boats and not as glitchy, so you don't have much chunk gen overrun with them. The larger ones have multiple seats and they all have inventories.

Regarding portals and tiered difficulty islands, have you thought about putting the tiers in different dimensions? That way you can't sail/swim/fly to a better island and skip past tiers. You can only get there via portals.

  2. I'd like to present a mod that does boats pretty well, that tends to be overlooked by most.Sadly, his recipes leave a bit to be desired. It might give you some ideas, or you could contact the creator about it. I actually used them extensively in TFC1. The speeds are a bit slower than the standard minecraft boat, so you don't end up overrunning on chunk gen very often and they aren't as glitchy as vanilla boats either.

  3. Yeah I thought so...that was typical of our previous server that wasn't TFC. Time to start digging into the file structure and see what's eating up all the drive space, thanks for the fast response!

  4. What kind of requirements are needed for a server? I've been playing with a dozen friends on a vps, and while memory, bandwidth, and vswap are all at very minimal levels of usage, I was a bit shocked to see we were already up to nearly 90GB out of the 100GB of storage I have available. Is this typical?

  5. So I've tested what I just described above, and I can't reproduce the bug. Both players just keep laying in bed, and when one gets out it is still nighttime.

Are you sure the server doesn't have any mods installed that handle sleeping? I know Morpheus is one mod that overrides behavior so it can be day with only one player sleeping. Could you please double check that you can reproduce this bug with just TFC installed? If you can't, my second guess would be the issue is with Hardcore Darkness.

Thanks for the quick response, close but not exact. Exactly two players online. It's night, only one player right clicks straw bed as if to set his spawn. It seems like you get into the bed for a split second and then it's morning across the server and the player is kicked back out of the bed like you'd expect. I just had the same thing happen with the regular bed I created too. One other player was online, it was night, and I was trying to set my spawn after placing the bed. Near instant morning.

I'll try if I can wrangle my players into helping.

I don't have mobius installed..but you did remind me that there are server side mods....I have forgeessentials, journeymapserver, and worldedit added server side. Hardcore darkness is merely a clientside mod, would that still be able to change the time serverside? All it changes is the minimum light level too, so it's really dark at night.

Oddly enough, I attempted it via lan (I have two MC accounts) and it didn't make it day. This would indicate it's one of those server side mods, correct?

  6. Have you read, understood, and followed all of the rules listed in large text at the top of the support forum? (Yes/No): Yes
Answering "no" to the above question will result in your post being deleted.

    TFC Version #: 79.25
    Forge Version #:  10.13.4.1448
Please note that an actual number must be provided for both of the above fields.
Simply saying "current" or "latest" will result in your post being locked, due to the fact that in a large number of cases, users who say they are using the "latest" or "current" version are actually using an outdated version.

    SSP/SMP (SinglePlayer/MultiPlayer): SMP

Have you deleted your config files or are using default configs and are still able to reproduce this bug? (Yes/No): Yes
If you answered no to the above question, delete all 3 TFC config files (TFCCrafting, TFCConfig, TFCOre), do NOT edit or add to any of the files, and try to reproduce the bug.
This question is here because many bugs are caused by mistakes in config files. If you are unable to delete your edited config files, please provide a list of the config options you have changed.

Do you have any mods other than Forge and TFC installed? (Yes/No): Yes
If yes, which mods? TFC Additions, TFC LeatherWaterSac, TFC Merchants, TFC Streams, CraftGuide, DynamicLights, Farseek, HardcoreDarkness, InfernalMobs, InventoryTweaks (With your xml fix), Journeymap, JsonRecipes, PlayerAPI, Smallboats, SmartMoving,SmartRender, Soundfilters. (Soundfilters, Journeymap, InventoryTweaks, DynamicLights, and HardcoreDarkness are only client side)

If you have Optifine or Cauldron installed, can you still reproduce the bug after uninstalling them? (Yes/No): Not installed
If you answered no to the above question, uninstall Optifine/Cauldron and try to reproduce the bug.
Both Optifine and Cauldron edit the base classes of forge that TFC uses. Because of this, we cannot officially support any issues that happen only when these mods are installed. In the majority of cases, TFC is not causing the bug; Optifine/Cauldron is and TFC can do nothing to fix it.
All bug reports should have an answer of "Yes" to this question. If you refuse to uninstall Optifine/Cauldron, and cannot reproduce the bug when the mods are not installed, do not bother making a bug report, as it will be locked and ignored.

Pastebin.com link of the Crash Report: No report, no crash.

Description: We have found on our server that when someone enters a straw bed with exactly two players on, that if one right clicks on a straw bed it instantly becomes day.

  7. He may be using Mob Spawn Controls 2. I've posted links to it many times on forum. I believe some one also posted a cross over mod for animals plus. Yup it is even on first page of apps and addons still http://terrafirmacraft.com/f/topic/8381-tfc-07922-animals-plus-mod/#entry109876

I didn't see that mod listed in the ones he's using. Also the comments about MSC2 causing excessive spawns with Animals Plus is a problem, as that's the mod I wanted to add! Ha! It's also not being updated by the creator, isn't officially compatible with 1.7.10.

Some things I've seen spawn because of spawners, but others I'm baffled by. Mostly the minotaurs seem to spawn with the same frequency and locations as zombies.

  8. As this pertains to a different mod being added and how the author did something, I wasn't sure where to put my question. :/

Anyway, in the modpack TerraFirmaPunk, the creator has caused mobs from Twlight Forest to generate on the surface world. Anyone have any idea how that's being done? I didn't see any specific mod related to it. I'd love to add animals plus (pointless mod that really only adds ambient animals but I like it for some reason!) but I have no idea how he managed this interesting feat!
