      ATTENTION Forum Database Breach   03/04/2019

There has been a breach of our database. Please make sure you change your password (use a password manager, like Lastpass).
If you used this password anywhere else, change that too! The passwords themselves are stored hashed, but may old accounts still had old, insecure (by today's standards) hashes from back when they where created. This means they can be "cracked" more easily. Other leaked information includes: email, IP, account name.
I'm trying my best to find out more and keep everyone up to date. Discord (http://invite.gg/TerraFirmaCraft) is the best option for up to date news and questions. I'm sorry for this, but the damage has been done. All I can do is try to make sure it doesn't happen again.

  1. Good Morning/Afternoon/Evening!

So did some quick re-read of an old slime chuck farming thread and yeah they are as evil to get as I remember. lol  (Least it's not the old height of Y16 or lower, right?)  Aside from having to dig down to bedrock and create some spawning platforms you'll also want to light up any nearby caves.  Skellies, zombies and creepers of course have the higher chance to spawn and with how rare slime spawns are you are more likely have those spawning in near by caves vs slimes on your platforms.  Don't forget like all hostile mobs they can't spawn within 25 blocks of you so once you are set up you'll need to move away and let it happen.

I know you have a plan B now (Which is probably easier, lol) but in case you feel like giving it another go for precious slime balls, more info!

Edit: Did some checking (Creative); dug down; cleared and area; light up nearby caves(ish).  I've not had any slimes spawn in the 'slime chunk' I cleared but I did have 2 spawn in a nearby ravine at around the Y22 mark.

  2. Yeah, I've never seen one and if it follows the old MC slime spawn rules that would explain why. (Mining is scary.)  I did jump to the conclusion they don't spawn since they aren't on the wiki either. Thanks for the info Kitty.

To Bunsan: are you at Y39 or lower? I'm pretty sure that was the old max height.

  3. "Bioxx Quote"

Huh, the more you know. Didn't realize he took a stab at it and yeah if it makes the ui icky better to leave well enough alone. :)

As for the topic I agree they are easy to spot from a distance but I think that's more due to the fact they tend to jump out given their variation of colours vs the standard green grass.  Though with the addition of flowers I've certainly been fooled a few times but hey great for prettying up a house.

Also clumps of wild grains could be larger

I think the amount that spawns is random, I've found 10+ rye then only 1 wheat out in the wild.  Unless you mean the actual models should be bigger?

    • Millibar, a unit of pressure frequently used in meteorology equal to one thousandth of a bar
Then I searchedmilibuckets just now and found out it was made up. Gosh that took longer than it needed to :D

The mB always brought to mind a milibar for me which just confused me more.  Though I too just now found out about FTB mB. lol So you're not alone Hubertus.  :)

Also Reyvinn taught me something in this thread which is cool. B) The time I spend on a farm was tending to and grooming horses. Also Woo~ high-five for the metric system.

  4. Math is from the wiki going by the minimum oz to create a full barrel of alcohol.

*That sounds like a bug.  I've got barrels of vodka/beer/corn whiskey/cider and soon I'll be adding rye whiskey and sake to the stash.  Hoping to have enough sugarcane to make rum after this years harvest.

  5. ...Many Words.

You are a wiki hero Kitty.  The food page looks fantastic I'm sure there is a huge thank you from everyone floating around on the board waiting to smack you upside the head. :D  Also a thank you to everyone who is helping out with the wiki.

I'm sure we've all at some point being working on something then moments in gotten distracted by something else.

  6. The idea of a shield that fully blocks projectiles, perhaps?

That sounds incredible overpowered.  Any item that guarantees no damage is OP in any game.  Even a seemingly simple stun mechanic can be very powerful in a game and can potential completely break combat removing any and all danger from mobs.

  7. I wonder how many people who said that they like the mechanic play only single player.

I would be one of them.  Also now that I have some time logged in my game I am using a mix;  Torches in none vital areas and pumpkins and/or lanterns in areas where I really don't want a creeper sneaking up on me.

  8. Kitty pretty much hit a the nail on the head with the advice about figuring out a colour palette before you even begin.  I think building up against the hill is a great idea, you lucked out a little with the hickory.  I think it's a great material since it goes with most anything, same goes for the white cedar.

I do tend to hop into a creative world when working out a build (Unless it's a starter box then pfffttt.) Depending how elaborate you want to be I find there is nothing wrong with a little pre-planning.

(Cause it came up) Side Note:  Poor white elm and willow getting no love, ever.  Totally decided last week after watching another Let's Play where white elm gets some hate on to build my main big house outta it with a willow roof.  It'll be tops!  :D Well least I think so. B)

  9. I know I killed squid in the early days of my world but I can't remember if they all dropped calamari or not I feel like they did (0.01oz).  Over on reddit Kitty also posted a thread asking the community what wiki pages we'd like to see updated and she said after the food page she'll be doing the skills page.  So that'll be fantastic  :D  since you are certainly not the first to ask about this kinda of thing (eg. meat explosions)

  10. Well if something that should be happening in your game is not happening that would be a bug.  However the new skill system specifically the butchery skill is tied to how much meat drops from any animal you kill.  So if your skill is low very little meat will drop and squid drop very little meat to begin with.  Fishing is a great way to level the butchery skill.

I just hopped into my world and killed a squid who dropped both calamari (0.03oz) and an ink sack, my butcher skill is at adept (The 2nd level).

  11. Wow, Munin has a lot of great suggestions.  Having read the ribbit* page after food and skills I don't think you could go wrong with the loom and/or sluice.  I'm assuming the grill and smoke rack will fall under the food category?  If not I'm totally bundling them with the loom/sluice too.  :) Again just trying to think of things that would be most helpful to a new player.  Although the large ceramic vessel is probably more important early game than the grill.

  12. I'll admit I do not check any ones twitter, so my bad (I'm a horrible person) so this post is helpful for me to help you to help everyone.

Now on to the topic I do not envy you this task there is so much awesome that happened in this update :D  hard to pick one topic/page over another.

Food a good one but I think I'd vote for the skills page.  Basically trying to look at it from the view point of a new player, who I'm hoping can figure out how to eat/create meals based on whats there.  They might not understand why taste matters or what to aim for when making a meal.  VS  the skills page which really has very little to no information.

  13. I will say this Bunsan without this thread it would have never occurred to me the horror of dying over a log pile with torches until it happened.

Ugh Hubertus that sucks, so close yet so far away. :(

Ladders are hard! And complicated with all that up and down and right round down down... B)
