The Deadliest Tool?

Lets say your in a cave and your all out of javelins, and the only metal item you have made is a zinc chisel that you have on you along with a stone hammer to use it.

You have enough sticks and stones to craft any tool you need, expect for the javelin because that requires a workbench.

Which stone tool now becomes your main melee weapon?

(this isnt an opinion question, but a round about way of asking which tool does the most damage)

the knife because you can't make anything else out of stone except for the knife or the javelin...

I would say the axe

I was thinking axe also, seeing as its what the van has as the second most damaging after sword.

If the other tools follow what van minecraft uses for tool damage, where does the hammer fall damage wise?

@Blood: I was under the impression the knife still didnt do any thing, even damage. and like I said a javelin cant be crafted with out a workbench.

Edit: Dont know why I didnt do this in the first place but.

In creative mode using the zombie egg and the stone tools I found that it took this many hits to kill a zombie.

Fist:22

Pick:8

Axe:8

Shovel:11

Hoe:22

ProPick:22

Hammer:22

Knife:22

Javelin:11 melee or 1 Throw + 4 Melee

Note: the Hoe and Propick didnt lose durability when attacking. This was on creative mode so that might change when in survival.

Edit2: a Granite Pick will lose more durability than a Granite Axe when attacking by what appears to be double.

the Axe can kill 7 zombies with 5 swings left in it.

the Pick can kill 3 zombies with 7 swings left in it.

So It would seem the Axe is the better weapon in an emergency.

The knife is for getting saplings, even though it behaves as a weapon(has a block animation), that's its main pourpose for the time being
