      ATTENTION Forum Database Breach   03/04/2019

There has been a breach of our database. Please make sure you change your password (use a password manager, like Lastpass).
If you used this password anywhere else, change that too! The passwords themselves are stored hashed, but may old accounts still had old, insecure (by today's standards) hashes from back when they where created. This means they can be "cracked" more easily. Other leaked information includes: email, IP, account name.
I'm trying my best to find out more and keep everyone up to date. Discord (http://invite.gg/TerraFirmaCraft) is the best option for up to date news and questions. I'm sorry for this, but the damage has been done. All I can do is try to make sure it doesn't happen again.

Shaping copper items

9 posts in this topic

I am using the 47f build which fixed my issue with ingots not heating in a firepit. I have been able to make a tin prospector's pick and a bismuth chisel, but I can't make anything with my copper ingot. The rules area in the anvil GUI is blank when I have the ingot, a plan, and a stone hammer in the anvil GUI. Is this a bug?

Thanks,

Mark

I believe you need a copper anvil first to make any tools from a copper ingot.

correct!

think of it this way if you want to craft a metal you have to have at least that metal anvil

copper ingot = copper anvil

bronze ingot = bronze anvil

Is this in the changelog? The wiki states that all you need it a stone anvil. I just went on a surface ore hunt and found enough cassiterite to make a tin ingot and enough sphalerite to make a zinc ingot. Then I was able to use the stone anvil to make them into pickaxe heads. Following your statement and reasoning, shouldn't I've needed both a tin and a zinc anvil as tin and zinc are both metals?

you use the stone anvil to shape the ingots but in order to make tools and such you have to first make a copper anvil

Tin, Zinc and Bismuth are the exception. They are smithed in the stone anvil, there are no anvils made out of that metals, as with some other. Go check in Creative

There are six anvil tiers in Terrafirma, seven with stone.

You have three metals at tier 0, namely: tin bismuth and zinc.

At tier 1 you have copper, meaning to make a tool of tier 1 or 0 you need a copper anvil.

At tier 2 you have the alloys: Bronze, Bismuth Bronze, Rose Gold and Black Bronze: Meaning as long as you have a tier 2 anvil of any of those alloys you can craft all tier 2, 1 and 0 metals into tools.

It goes on like that all the way to tier 6.

Thanks to everyone for replying to my questions. For some reason I was skipping over that statement on the copper wiki page. Now on to finding more copper ore so that I can made a copper anvil. Thanks!
