      ATTENTION Forum Database Breach   03/04/2019

There has been a breach of our database. Please make sure you change your password (use a password manager, like Lastpass).
If you used this password anywhere else, change that too! The passwords themselves are stored hashed, but may old accounts still had old, insecure (by today's standards) hashes from back when they where created. This means they can be "cracked" more easily. Other leaked information includes: email, IP, account name.
I'm trying my best to find out more and keep everyone up to date. Discord (http://invite.gg/TerraFirmaCraft) is the best option for up to date news and questions. I'm sorry for this, but the damage has been done. All I can do is try to make sure it doesn't happen again.

my little "Errrr..." about dirt/sand sliding

4 posts in this topic

Before i start, be aware: I'm not against this change. I actually love it. but i just thought it should be a little imporved when i saw what i saw... Keep reading, let me show you.

So, basically, what happened is that i was boring, my chests were full with a ton of dirt, and i decided to make a dirt pyramid to kill time. I took all the dirt i had, i randomly choose a spot and started pillaring dirt for it to form the pyramid by itself. There were two things that i noticed, and i thought would need some fixing: The first one, when a dirt block had to slide where there was tall grass, it instead dropped. The second one is in this image:

You see? It's not a pyramid, it's a + ._. . It's not dicernible in the image, but the spaces between the diferent "arms" are almost perfect dirt walls.

So, yeah, i still like the change, but, shouldn't dirt:

1) Break flowers and tall grass when sliding on them?

2) Actually pile up in a pyramid shape instead of what it does right now?

I'm looking foward for this to be weaked a little so it work a little better, if possible... Not necesarily in the next update, but eventually in the future ._.

I must say that I have observed a similar phenomina on several occasions where dirt that I would expect to colapse when dug into would not. This is especially noticable in prexisting mounds found in the world. If a hole is dug into the side one or two bocks will colapse but the ones above will often remain unchanged often in strangely illogical ways. However what is curantly implemented is certainly a vast improvement over default minecraft floating dirt blocks.

If dirt is made a certain way it kind of gets stuck into it's shape, and it doesn't really have a problem staying like that until someone takes the dirt out, causing the rest of the dirt around it to shift and avalanche. If you try to place the dirt where it was it won't work because it doesn't have the (very) slow buildup time it originally had for it to get that way to begin with.

Dirt is still under development, I think, because Bioxx didn't say that dirt is completely finished, only that it no more acts like a rabbit.
