      ATTENTION Forum Database Breach   03/04/2019

There has been a breach of our database. Please make sure you change your password (use a password manager, like Lastpass).
If you used this password anywhere else, change that too! The passwords themselves are stored hashed, but may old accounts still had old, insecure (by today's standards) hashes from back when they where created. This means they can be "cracked" more easily. Other leaked information includes: email, IP, account name.
I'm trying my best to find out more and keep everyone up to date. Discord (http://invite.gg/TerraFirmaCraft) is the best option for up to date news and questions. I'm sorry for this, but the damage has been done. All I can do is try to make sure it doesn't happen again.

Possible to prevent Sequoia forests from generating?

4 posts in this topic

Howdy folks, loving the mod!

Would there happen to be a way to prevent Sequoia forests from generating? I'm currently forced to generate a new world for my server due to the Sequoia crash (We're on a peninsula with a Sequoia forest between us and the rest of the world), and I was curious if it's at all possible to remove the problem all together, at least until issue is fixed with a future update.

An alternative to this would be to set my server (it's hosted on my machine) to automatically reboot when it crashes, is there something I can throw into the .bat or possible configuration files to allow this?

Thanks again for such a great mod, keep up the good work!

Which crash are you experiencing? The one caused by chopping down large sequoias (The crash report will contain a phrase like BlockScanLog) or the exception ticking callable lvl 1 that causes crashes randomly without any player interference?

If you are experiencing the first crash, simply inform your users to avoid trees that appear very tall with a lot of leaves; or allocate more processing and RAM to your server. If you are experiencing the second crash, it appears to be related to dense sequoia forests generating with other trees which then try to replace the sequoia logs. This one has been fixed for the next major build, but unfortunately will most likely not be released in a build 77 hotfix. I will speak with Bioxx to see if we can port it backwards and get the fix working for build 77.

Unfortunately, it's the latter of the two. I'm happy to hear that it's fixed for the next build though! I can just instruct my players to stay away from sequoia forests for the time being.I take it that there's no way to avoid the generation of such forests? If that's the case I guess I'll just have to grin and get on with it.Thank you for the timely response, Kitty!

I merged it into my experimental branch in git. Its been running on my server for days with no side effects that I can see. If you need me to put in a pull request, let me know.
