Server Crashing

Well, hello! I played terrafirma a lot of time ago and wanted to start doing again, but with two more people. The map was created and the first minutes went great, but after that we've been experiencing a lot of crashes: just for being 100-200m away one from another. We can't also cut some trees without a crash, but the worse... we can't go even a bit far from our house without it crashing.

 

It happens every 5-10 min, even more often... The mod is great and we want to continue, but it's becoming more and more difficult.

 

I would appreciate some help! =) Thanks.

Without a crash report, there isn't much we can do to help you without making assumptions...

 

From what you've said, I'm going to make the assumption that you are in a world with a lot of Sequoia Trees (The large 2x2 trees found in areas a bit farther away from the equator than Kapok). The issues with these trees causing crashes when chopping them down, as well as random crashes while being around dense forest have both been reported, and have hopefully been fixed for B78, but that won't be released for quite some time.

 

Your only real solution currently is to start a new world with your friend, and avoid those large trees like the plague.

Yes, a lot of sequoias around... But even when we go far from the trees, the crashes continue to happen. I'll try starting a new one (maybe copying our house with MCedit).

 

A crash report? I've got like 20 only from yesterday. Here's the last one (I think the crash-report folder is the one that holds what you're asking me for).

 

EDIT: Changed map and imported our house... crashes still happen. No sequoias arround.

Second line of your crash report says exactly what is happening:

java.lang.OutOfMemoryError: Java heap space

You need to allocate more Memory to your game using the JVM arguments option under Edit Profile on the Minecraft launcher. I suggest setting it to

-Xms1G -Xmx1G

Which will set the minimum and maximum allocated memory to 1 gig. Since you are running a 32 bit system, this is your only option as you cannot set a max higher than 1gig unless you are running a 64 bit system.

Thanks! But the crashes happen in the server itself, so where should I write that? Adding it in my own Minecraft won't change anything on the server, no?

Correct, you'll need to edit your run.bat file so it says the following:

I wrote that as the .jar name. Now it only crashes every 10 min, but still does. A new crash report (sorry and thanks for the help):

The callable lvl1 error is from sequoia trees, as explained in the stickied post of official bugs.

 

As for the server crashing even after adding those arguments, it looks like your system simply isn't powerful enough to host a TFC server. It lack the processing power, and as a 32bit system really doesn't have the memory requirements needed.
