      ATTENTION Forum Database Breach   03/04/2019

      There has been a breach of our database. Please make sure you change your password (use a password manager, like Lastpass).
      If you used this password anywhere else, change that too! The passwords themselves are stored hashed, but may old accounts still had old, insecure (by today's standards) hashes from back when they where created. This means they can be "cracked" more easily. Other leaked information includes: email, IP, account name.
      I'm trying my best to find out more and keep everyone up to date. Discord (http://invite.gg/TerraFirmaCraft) is the best option for up to date news and questions. I'm sorry for this, but the damage has been done. All I can do is try to make sure it doesn't happen again.

Blast Furnace not working...

I've got the whole structure up and running, I made it from birch planks and diorite bricks. Bellows? check. Crucible? check. Tuyere? check. So I climb up the ladder to the tip top of the chimney, throw the charcoal down, and...

that's it.

that's all I can do.

I can see the furnace lighting up, but when I try to put in flux or any kind of ore, it doesn't work. It just floats at the top and does nothing. Is there a solution to this? I'd really like to hear it.

Well, don't use wood for a blast furnace... it only works on stone. Wood is flammable, don't use it for a metal furnace

Are you using the birch planks in any part of the chimney? A screenshot of your setup would be helpful. I only used planks in the wiki image to show that it had to be off of the ground. The planks in that image are technically not part of the blast furnace structure itself.

 

How tall is your blast furnace?

Does the chimney have access to the sky? Or is there a solid block over it?

 

Are you seeing a molten block at the bottom of the chimney, or is just the furnace block itself lighting up?

How much charcoal did you throw in? If you threw in too much, there won't be any space in the internal storage for the other items.

 

Have you tried throwing the ore and flux in first?
