Is experience used at all in TFC?

Im trying to figure out if i can just use it for currency or something, but I am not sure if its used for anything.

In TFC, experience levels increase your maximum health pool. I won't spoil this for you, but if you want to know exactly how much extra health you get, you can look at the TFC configuration file. Or alternatively you can use F3 to find your current health, but don't forget that your maximum health is also affected by nutrition.

Experience

TFC has no formal way of enchanting tools, weapons or armour (the only way to obtain enchanted items is from monster drops). Instead, the experience system represents life experience, and so each level increases a player's maximum health, hunger and thirst, allowing them to take more hits, and survive longer without eating or drinking.

I consider experience in TFC to be highly important and you should try to collect it as much as possible. The game gets A LOT easier when you become high level.
