      ATTENTION Forum Database Breach   03/04/2019

There has been a breach of our database. Please make sure you change your password (use a password manager, like Lastpass).
If you used this password anywhere else, change that too! The passwords themselves are stored hashed, but may old accounts still had old, insecure (by today's standards) hashes from back when they where created. This means they can be "cracked" more easily. Other leaked information includes: email, IP, account name.
I'm trying my best to find out more and keep everyone up to date. Discord (http://invite.gg/TerraFirmaCraft) is the best option for up to date news and questions. I'm sorry for this, but the damage has been done. All I can do is try to make sure it doesn't happen again.

Not able to place iron ingot after cooling down (sporadically)

14 posts in this topic

Version #: TFC Beta 0.78.17 For MC v1.6.4 (Built using Minecraft Forge 9.11.1.965)

SSP/SMP (Single/MultiPlayer): SSP

Suggested Name: Not able to place iron ingot after cooling down (sporadically)

Suggested Category: Annoying

Description:

After working a iron bloom on the iron anvil to get the iron ingot, I let the ingot cool down in my inventory.

After it is cooled down some ingots won't stack with the other ingots. I'm not able to place down this unstackable ingots too.

When I let them cool down in a barrel of water sometimes the ingots are dissapearing.

This happens only with iron ingots. All other ingots are working fine.

Have you deleted your config files and are still able to reproduce this bug?: No I have not deleted or edited anything.

Do you have any mods other than Forge and TFC installed?: No

The only reason I can see this happening is if you are shift clicking the ingots around. As noted in a few places on this forum: Rule #1 in TFC: Don't shift click items around in inventories.

The only way that I can think of to get these ingots to behave is to craft them with a ceramic mold, and then un-craft them. Do not shift click at any time during this process. The other option is to put the ingot in the forge with molds in the output slot, and let the ingot reach melting temperature so it goes into the mold that way.

In regards to your report, I'm guessing you didn't read the whole statement after the deleting configs question.. because it explicitly states that all reports should have an answer of Yes. Your game didn't crash, so you didn't get a crash report, and therefore could have just removed that last line because it isn't relevant to this situation.

Hi Kittychanley,

Where can I find the TFC Config I have to delete?

I read this "do not shift click" warning but it is hard to not do it.

Is there a chance to fix this shift clicking bug? In my opinion the shift clicking is a important feature.

I'll try to reproduce the bug without shift clicking.

By the way:

I just remember that some seeds are disappearing when I place them on the field.

Maybe this issue has the same origin?

There is a folder called "config" right next to your "mods" folder where you installed TFC. All of the TFC-related config files will have TFC in their name.

As for the fixing the shift clicking bug, yes there is a very small chance to fix it, its just extremely low priority to fix because it takes a lot of effort and is a real pain in the behind to fix, and the reward for doing all that effort isn't very big. It will probably get fixed eventually, we're just not bothering with it right now because so many other things are more important.

Oh can't you make me the favor and 'up' the priority?

Shift clicking is a really nice usability feature.

And like you say: It's a pain in the 'behind' to switch to the creative mode and replace the bugged ingot.

Maybe I can help to fix it if you tell me what I have to do?

Yeah... no. We're talking hours upon hours of work to fix it here. Every single "container" that you can put items in has to have its code fixed, and all of our special crafting recipes have to have basically 3 different handlers written for them because Mojang decided to make them all handle separately (Click & Drag, Shift Click, Hotbar # Press). We're talking about cleaning up and fixing at a minimum 30 different files in the code. And then going through and making sure that all of that is working properly, and that all of the slot classes are still behaving properly. This isn't a "quick fix". It's much more likely that we're going to have to break a bunch of things first, and then fix those and then fix more things in order to actually get it done in the end.

Well, If I can help then please tell me how. I really like to get this fixed.

I have no problems with doing hours of mindless copy-code-from-file-to-file work.

Unfortunately it isn't that simple. Each and every individual container has different rules for which items go where when you shift click them, so there really isn't very much mindless anything going on in any of the process.

OK, I just want to be obliging and my offer will remain in future.

Today I will delete the configs and try to reproduce the issue without shift clicking.

Maybe the issue has an other cause.

I will give feedback here.

Soooo,

I deleted my config files and put six 300% blooms in the forge.

I tried to not shift clicking (it's very hard) and it still happend after I cooled an ingot in the water barrel.

And you're absolutely positive that you didn't shift click the ingot in or out of the barrel?

Another hypothesis might be that when turning the blooms into ingots, you might have worked an ingot when you finished it, even though the game did not register it as "This item is being worked".

This is possible...
