      ATTENTION Forum Database Breach   03/04/2019

There has been a breach of our database. Please make sure you change your password (use a password manager, like Lastpass).
If you used this password anywhere else, change that too! The passwords themselves are stored hashed, but may old accounts still had old, insecure (by today's standards) hashes from back when they where created. This means they can be "cracked" more easily. Other leaked information includes: email, IP, account name.
I'm trying my best to find out more and keep everyone up to date. Discord (http://invite.gg/TerraFirmaCraft) is the best option for up to date news and questions. I'm sorry for this, but the damage has been done. All I can do is try to make sure it doesn't happen again.

HELP smelting native copper

6 posts in this topic

hi everyone im kinda new with TFC so it may not be a bug, but when im trying to smelt native copper in the firepit it only reach the state bright red****, i figure i was using a crappy wood so i look for better wood and i found maple, it reach the state orange**** but didint smelt, (i was using a bellow) i dont know what to do to smelt it... i even cheat myselft a few cassetorite and it smelt the tin just fine, but i dont like cheating so i dont know what to do..i even cheat mysfelft some pieces of hickory and still could not smelt the native copper...i know it should be easier with a bloomery but i need a chisel first....i know i could find cassetorite and smelt tin but im having problems to find granite.. .and i think i should be able to make a copper chisel ¬_¬U

any advice to make the firepit hotter??

i also wanna know....the jet is useful? because i found a lot and i the wiki says nothing about it

you can´t smelt Copper in a firepit, in the wiki it says yes, but you need Sphalerite, Bismuthinite or Cassiterite to get an Bar in a firepit what you can work on a stone Anvil.

So you have to find one of these ores. Jet has no function till now so put it in your Chest and wait for an update :D

I hope its all right what I said.

Copper is indeed smeltable in a firepit, but you have to use the highest-temperature wood, which is hickory, and it has to be done at very high altitude, with a bellows. It takes a long time and you have to keep the temp at max by using the bellows almost constantly, but it's possible.

Your best bet though is to find tin, zinc, or bismuth for the first-tier tools and make a bloomery.

When I tried to smelt it in a firept (At about 76 altitude, with hickory and bellows) it just disappears. Is this something in terrafirmacraft, i.e. I disintegrated it into unusable form, or is it a glitch. I got no slag, and the last temperature it was on was Orange****

You need a ceramic mold in the bottom slot if melting in the firepit otherwise your metal flows over the ground and disappears.
