      ATTENTION Forum Database Breach   03/04/2019

There has been a breach of our database. Please make sure you change your password (use a password manager, like Lastpass).
If you used this password anywhere else, change that too! The passwords themselves are stored hashed, but may old accounts still had old, insecure (by today's standards) hashes from back when they where created. This means they can be "cracked" more easily. Other leaked information includes: email, IP, account name.
I'm trying my best to find out more and keep everyone up to date. Discord (http://invite.gg/TerraFirmaCraft) is the best option for up to date news and questions. I'm sorry for this, but the damage has been done. All I can do is try to make sure it doesn't happen again.

[Solved] Can't right click a Forge

14 posts in this topic

I had a working forge, and now all of a sudden I can't right click it anymore. I broke it and re-made it in the same spot, and after I light it up I'm still unable to fight click it. I even remade the forge itself and it won't let me click it.

Recently my house caught on fire and burned down, but other than that nothing has changed. I really don't want to move it somewhere else...

Is it raining/snowing? If your forge has a direct chimney to the sky instead of a bent one, precipitation will put out the forge.

Has a tree or anything grown over the top of the chimney? Could you post some screenshots of how it's set up? Usually when you can't right click a forge to open it, it's because it is either being rained on, or it doesn't have sky access.

Is the block directly above the forge chiseled at all? Also, there is a button on your keyboard that says something like PrtSc which stands for "Print Screen". You can use it to take a screenshot, which will be put on your clipboard. Then you can paste it into a program like Paint to save and upload... instead of using a phone to take an actual photograph of your monitor...

To clarify, when I say "chiseled" I mean have you used the stair, slab, or detail mode of the chisel on the block? Doing so would make the block transparent, and therefore the forge will assume that is the chimney directly up, instead of the bent chimney. It doesn't matter if it is a smooth stone or raw stone block.

No, it is regular smooth stone you collect with the chisel. I switched it out with other blocks and nothing changed

Alright, just a few more troubleshooting steps.

  • Stand at the base of your chimney, and look directly up. Do you see any blocks at all directly above that are not air? Torches, lumber, chiseled blocks, leaves, anything?
  • Break the actual forge block, and create a new one, making sure that you actually light it.
  • Break the block directly above the forge, can you access the forge now?
  • Replace the block above the forge, and break one of the other adjacent blocks so that the chimney isn't diagonal from the forge.

So when I break an adjacent block, it works. But there's nothing above the original chimney! This is annoying

I've gone and done some testing, and have found your problem. That is not a valid chimney. From your pictures, I can see the hole in your roof is 1 left, and 1 back, from, your forge block. BEHOLD!

The red squares are your chimney hole, and the block it is situated over. Note that that block diagonal to your forge block. This is not allowed. The dark green square is the block directly above your forge. It is valid. The lime green squares are also valid. I tested these in a creative world, and as long as one of the green squares was left open, it worked. The moment I closed them and left only the red square open, it stopped working. The following image is a useful reference:

Note that the bend can only happen in 1 direction, not two.
