On a somewhat related note, I once had a pit kiln burn upwards through a three blocks thickness of brick and light my ore storage on fire. That was not a good day. Needless to say, I immediately moved my pit kiln area to a barren island a little ways away from my house.

I actually started a game last week in a world that matches that description. 1. Lots of trees within half a days walk from spawn. So far I've found: pine, white cedar, douglas fir, maple, and hickory. 2. Pretty temperate. Average biotemp is around 13-14. So many fruit trees if you do some exploring. I've got plums, red apples, lemons, peaches and cherries so far and there's a few trees that I never got saplings or fruit off of. 3. Holy cow, so much food. I'm drowning in soy beans and I've found 9 or 10 types of veggies nearby as well as three types of berries. There's some sugar cane as well a little ways east of spawn but it looks like the growing season may be too short for it to reach maturity. 4. Spawn is right next to the ocean. 5. So many ores. Just from surface ore I have about 10 bars worth of iron. Copper is a little more rare but I've found lot's of nickel, tin, zinc and bismuth. There's also surface veins of borax, sylvite, kaolinite and coal. 6. You like rock salt? Good, this map is saltier than a McDonald's grease trap. There's also lots of gabbro around. 7. I'm constantly beating pigs away from me with a stick. There's also some sheep, wolves and the occasional bear near spawn. If you travel about a day away from spawn you can find some deer and pheasants. No cows so far though. Unfortunately, it's not warm enough for a jungle. I'm in the middle of writing papers and studying but I'll try to take some screenshots for you tonight. World seed is: 85785294
