      ATTENTION Forum Database Breach   03/04/2019

There has been a breach of our database. Please make sure you change your password (use a password manager, like Lastpass).
If you used this password anywhere else, change that too! The passwords themselves are stored hashed, but may old accounts still had old, insecure (by today's standards) hashes from back when they where created. This means they can be "cracked" more easily. Other leaked information includes: email, IP, account name.
I'm trying my best to find out more and keep everyone up to date. Discord (http://invite.gg/TerraFirmaCraft) is the best option for up to date news and questions. I'm sorry for this, but the damage has been done. All I can do is try to make sure it doesn't happen again.

  1. Name Me!

Hm... if the Off-Topic subforumis subjected to bederailed, would that mean that we would create another Holmesian Event, or do we have to essentially derail the entire forum just to rival the Holmesian Event?

I am alone, with only guests and spiders to accompany me... (At the time of this post...)
  3. Name Me!

"Oxymoronic"? Well, we cannotderail the entire TFC forum, otherwise Mr. Dunkleosteus and/or the moderators would ban the derailers, and since that Mr. Crysyn confined all of the derails to the Off-Topic subforum, why not?
  4. Name Me!

Tier-3 veteran, eh? I feelhonored, Killster.Should we derail the entire Off-Topic forum before we all go back into lurking (or disappear for many suns and moons)? Also Kimbblesrath, I have not finished Brotherhood, unfortunately. I only have the fifth season to go, and with an RP forum and fan fiction based off of said forum to both maintain and write, I don't think I will have the time to do so (at least for a while).

Nope. *Creates interdimensional rift, causing the universe to be invaded by aliens.
  6. Name Me!

Well, there are two things we can still do: Either we go down with a bang (just go derailing the Off-Topic subforum) before thenewcomers become the dominant users, or try to change the direction of TFC. (NOTE: I consider myself to be a veteran, even though my post count is only around four hundred.)
  7. Name Me!

It has been many moons and suns since I have last recounted the ages of the TerraFirmaCraft Forums, but I will attempt to do so, regardless. The First Age - The Creation of the TFC Forums The Second Age - The Rise of the Veterans The Third Age - The Disappearance of the Veterans The Fourth Age - The Attempted Revival of the Forum The Fifth Age - The Great Disappearance of Many Members, and the end of the veterans'derail and discussion days;"The Grim Times". Dunkleosteus, if you read this, may we add a sub-forum about the history and ages of the TFC Forums?
  8. Stay real

Iintended to say"make sure not to focus so much on believability and balancing thatit actually ruins the game," but I could've clarified better.
  9. Stay real

Recalling the old quote of TerraFirmaCraft mod - "Survival Mode as it Should've Been" - has given me the impression that this modification will rewrite Minecraft in almost every aspect. Generally, that is what the mod really did a good job on, last year. However, as time goes on after that, I have to agree with Srgnoodles, here. TFC just doesn't seem to live up to its name, in my opinion. I was really hoping for the animals update, but it never came, due to problemson Mr. Dunkleosteus' part. I understand about making the mod believable and balancing everything, that sounds good, theory. However, as I have observed over the past months, it seems that this concept has become a huge design flaw, in itself. Like I had stated back in the Dreams and Farewells topic in the Off-Topic subforum, the difficulty, the depth, isn't just there. And now, after some careful thinking, I think that believability and balancing is just holding TerraFirmaCraft back. For the impression of TFC from its old quote, from my interpretationit implies that there will be plenty of realism and complexity and depth within the mod, itself. Generally, the one who might be looking for that may not be satisfied with TFC after they played it up to the Steel Age, several times, or will just avoid it, completely, in the worst case scenario. What I suggest to prevent this is that focus more on the realism, and not so much of believability. I think I understand now that there has to be a fine balance between what is realistic, and what is believable. Also, for the balancing, try not to overly ignore it, but try to make it so that balancing does not ruin the game for the players. -Sda209.
  10. Tanks Kittychanley!!

Though, I have never interacted with you, very much, Ms. KitttChanley, I must say that judging from the others' reactions about your work, I must applaud you for your work as a forum moderator. -Sda209, a Relic of the Past (sort of).
  11. Monopoly Card

Your deepest fears in Monopoly has finally happened. Now suffer and go into Mr. Corner, and think about your life.
  12. Name Me!

The days of the veterans' derailing fun and discussion topics is over... The Fourth Age is over... and now, the Fifth Age, known as "The Grim Times", has begun. Welcome to the Fifth Age, better known as"The Grim Times".

One does not simply win this game.
  14. Dreams and Farewells

(I apologize for a possible double-post.) Alright, let's get started on discussion. We are going to need Dunkleosteus and Bioxx in our discussion to discuss about what we could do to change the direction of TerraFirmaCraft. I'll start the topic in the TFC Discussion sub-forum once they are present and ready, as I think it is appropriate that we should start, there. As for the many of you, prepare the to write thebest possibly-well--thought-out suggestions from the past. We are going to need the good ones to actually suggest to Bioxx, in person.
  15. Dreams and Farewells

I think it is time that we, the community members of TerraFirmaCraft, begin to help the developers change the direction of this fantastic modification. No longer it is going to be confined to complex mechanics with a lack of depth. No longer the difficulty will be un-present. We're going to change TerraFirmaCraft. For the greater good of all.

  20. Believability VS well, just Believability

Interesting post, Srgnoodles. Though, you might not read this post, I am afraid that believability can only be real as we perceive it. In other words, we can only perceive our world as we think it might be.
  21. Dreams and Farewells

Farewell, to you, Miss Srgnoodles; it has been an honour running through with the forums, over past year, with you. I do hope we will cross paths, once again. Though I have only arrived here a little after the start of the TFC beta, and this forum's inception, after reading your reason as to why you chose to leave, I agree with you. Despite never playingthe alpha, I think I understand what you mean by why TFC did not have the same feeling as it once had. The best way I could think of to explain that feelingis that whatpuxapuax had mentioned earlier; Terra Firma Craft just seemed to have left the path its developers had intended to follow, to summarize it in simple, yet very understandable words. I also agree with you, puxapuax. There isn't really any real challenge to the middle and late games of TFC. Once you have gotten past the monsters and the stone age, that's pretty much it; no reason to advance. I think that the main reason why has to do with that is the lack ofdepth. Before you go ahead and flame me (assuming that you actually get angry at the previous line of text in the first place), I don't really know if I am providing the correct answer, but I'll try to explain it as best as I can. Though much of the mod is still in development, in my opinion, TFC is one of the best modifications for Minecraft out there, and I respect the developers for that. However, what let's it down, as I have realized from my perspective, might be the lack of depth in its mechanics. For instance, moving up from the stone age to the metallurgy age sounds like a tough challenge. In most cases, it is, but once you find a surface vein of copper, surrounding trees, and plenty of workable stone, you're all set for the metallurgy age. The only challenge is searching for them, and though you might as well have to travel far and wide just to get to that copper vein, that's pretty much it, as far as I know. Once you're out of the stone age, like puxuapax said; you are free to really build and do whatever you please with the metal tools. There isn't really any reason to advance beyond copper, other than getting stronger, longer-lasting tools and armor, I think you're pretty much set for whatever you plan to do. There isn't a worth-while reward, or a challenge, once you advance to the metallurgy age and up through the rest of the metal ages. I think that the developers could add more depth into the game; use the suggestions from the past year and at the present. Havea dynamic knapping system in place, or add in nutrients that humans require, or even something exciting like a fluidcombat system. I know that the last suggestion (and any suggestion that could be or isgood over the past that has been struck down)is a no-no, by Bioxx, but the current combat system of Minecraft is only spamming the mouse and aiming at the cursor at the mob. I am aware that there are limitations in what is conceivable in modding Minecraft, but at least try to emulate that with the tools Java has given us. I was actually hoping for better hostile mobiles when I first came here, and over the past year, we haven't really gotten them, at the time of this post. Overall, I think that TFC is lacking the depth it needs to accentuate with its complexity. I am truly sorry for any offenses I may have caused. I have never intended to cause it, and I only wanted to give some constructive criticism for Terra Firma Craft. -Sda209.
  22. I Have Returned

Greetings once more, everyone, my name is Sda209! For those of you that doknow me, I would like to say hello, once again! For those that do not know me, I am simply another veteran (despite the amount of posts I made...) that is returning, though not from avery long hiatus. I've been enjoying my high school years; it's been quite fun, to be precise. I've been returning to fan fiction writing, and I've been playing Dwarf Fortress, Cataclysm: Dark Days Ahead, and XCOM: Enemy Unknown. DF, I've actually been playing for quite a long while, but I haven't even made a well yet and I know how to set up a fortress. Cataclysm is very difficult, but it is fun. XCOM is out to get me! For my first playthrough, I tried the Classic mode with Ironman enabled. Let's just say that it didn't end too well, like with Zemalf's first playthrough of it... Enough of me rambling, I will try to be present here, once in a while, but because I have registered for a few RP forums (and a writer's discussion forum, of some sorts) in FanFiction.net, I won't be able to be always here. Once again, I have returned (maybe), and I thank you for reading this post, and, Farewell! -Sda209.
  23. The Birth of a Tool by John Neeman

Besides the flint part (I have forgotten about that one) I am pretty much aware of these things. I was simply expressing how impressed I am by how, despite their very limited use, flint tools were created by our ancestors, whose minds, though they haven't reached the level we have today, were very advanced for their time.
  24. The Birth of a Tool by John Neeman

I am impressed by these series of videos, but even to this day,I do wonder how one fashions a stone flintaxe with only the environment as their set of tools to procure such a woodcutting tool.
