      ATTENTION Forum Database Breach   03/04/2019

There has been a breach of our database. Please make sure you change your password (use a password manager, like Lastpass).
If you used this password anywhere else, change that too! The passwords themselves are stored hashed, but may old accounts still had old, insecure (by today's standards) hashes from back when they where created. This means they can be "cracked" more easily. Other leaked information includes: email, IP, account name.
I'm trying my best to find out more and keep everyone up to date. Discord (http://invite.gg/TerraFirmaCraft) is the best option for up to date news and questions. I'm sorry for this, but the damage has been done. All I can do is try to make sure it doesn't happen again.

  1. Where Are The Chickens?

Fantastic! Are the spawns still occurring in newly generated chunks only? The patch notes only say that spawns are now in line with the climate system instead of vanilla biomes.
  2. Where Are The Chickens?

Are sheep in a similar boat? I haven't seen any sheep in my world so far either. Thanks for the heads up!
  3. Rambling about the mobs. (Tweak please)

Checking out the latest release notes (77.4), looks like there were changes to zombie health, javelin strength, spider hit-boxes, and mob spawning, so this may be mitigating, but I would also agree that the javelin is quite weak as a stone tool. In another thread, Zerren did a quick breakdown of some numbers, and the thing that has me a bit concerned is that the end-game weapons like the red steel sword are not that much more powerful. I'm sure this is all going to get balanced out, however, as this is the first big release with reworked combat mechanics.
  4. Build 77

Just read the latest 77.4 notes and looks like the ceramic jug breaking, spider hit box, and skeleton super-speed were fixed in 77.3 and .4. Fantastic!
  5. Build 77

Dang, are these numbers for standard difficulty? Because I'm playing on hardcore difficulty and I have broken every stone tool against one of those zombies and haven't landed a single hit on a spider. Does the mob damage/health scale even more with difficulty? I can accept this as "stone tools are terrible," but the tool progression overall seems unsatisfying.
  6. Build 77

Haven't gotten too far yet but I'm loving the early game changes. I dig the thatch building material and the pottery, but is the ceramic jug supposed to break after you take one sip? Seems rather... fragile.
  7. Can't remove forge block

I can confirm this. Sat there for several minutes with a pick and eventually broke it. Removing all the blocks around it did nothing, but I haven't tested that in the latest hotfixes.
  8. Advancing Ages : Making it Harder

I really like the idea of a Don't Starve type of food system. Sure, it's not perfect and can be gamed to some extent, but it would be significantly better than what we have now. It would be easier to implement without having to redesign a lot of the interface or mechanics and we would have something that can vastly improve gameplay instead of waiting for an idealized and elegant total rewrite that may not come for a long time.
  9. Monster balance

I would love to see the skeletons stop shooting out their backside for starters. You can do an amazing sneak ambush on one of those and it means nothing because they'll just fire an arrow at deadly speed and accuracy with their back turned. And I do like the idea of lower accuracy with distance. As far as monsters in general, perhaps there could be more dangerous/better armed mobs in specific areas or regions with some clue to the adventurer saying that they're in hardcore country. If the area is particularly resource rich, that would be even more rewarding to venture in there. But right now, the weakest zombie and the best armed skeleton can spawn right next to each other for no reason other than the random number generator said so.
  10. Chunks load very slowly

So the new Optifine has options for controlling chunk loading and setting it to smooth or multi-core has significantly improved or eliminated this problem. Thanks all!
  11. Chunks load very slowly

Hi folks, Started playing this mod and I'm absolutely loving it! I'm running into a bit of tech issue though: the chunks in the world sometimes load very slowly. I don't think it's framerate or memory. I'm almost always at 55+ fps and I've allocated 4G in the launcher which fixed some issues. However, there are often times when the game is running great, but I'll come right up to a section of chunks that hasn't loaded. I can sit there and watch this void in space for minutes and see that it's loading various chunks in the distance one by one about every several seconds. Meanwhile my fps is at 60 and I'm using 20% of the 4G of ram allocated. Has anyone run into this or something similar? I'm using the launcher provided with TFC. Running worlds in vanilla minecraft doesn't give me that problem. Chunks load before they come into view and I am sad I'm missing out on the great vistas this mod can generate. I realize TFC is a more intense mod, but I'd expect the fps to drop if my machine was having trouble keeping up. Thanks!
  12. Optifine with TFC Launcher?

I just tried adding the mods manually to a fresh minecraft install and got that to work with TFC using the latest forge (682) and the latest Optifine 1.5.1 HD U D1. This is not using the launcher. Mmm. Didn't know you can install it that way. Will have to give it a try the next time an update rolls around.
  13. Optifine with TFC Launcher?

If you check the mods from within minecraft (before trying to add Optifine), it should tell you what forge version it's running. Then check to see if there's an Optifine build for that version of forge. That should determine compatibility. When I tried it, TFC used forge version 603 while the closest Optifine build was for 608 (or something along those lines). If you're running the new launcher, is it built with a different version of forge? Another solution that I don't particularly care to invest time into is to add TFC and its requisite mods into a vanilla minecraft install. This way you can pick compatible versions of forge and Optifine yourself. This is of course more time-consuming and will have to be redone when a new version of TFC is available.
  14. Optifine with TFC Launcher?

I think the folder is called "tfcraft" in the %app data% directory. As I understand, you'd unpack it into the minecraft.jar. I tried installing Optifine last night, but couldn't find a build of it that works with forge that the launcher provides so I kept getting a null pointer error on startup. The forge version I had was 603 I think. If you get it working, do tell!
  15. Lag?

Does his vanilla minecraft run fine? I had a similar issue when I started playing but it would manifest itself in my session getting super laggy to the point where minecraft would just freeze and I would have to kill it. Restarting minecraft gave me a few more minutes until it would die again. I didn't have to restart my whole computer, tho. I did two things to fix it I think: update to a 64-bit java (which I wanted for the very far draw distance and because I am running a 64-bit machine) and update my graphics card drivers. I think the java more than anything fixed it for me. Now the only time TFC lags is when it tries to autosave, I believe.
  16. Chunks load very slowly

They seem to always load when I step into the chunk, but that's hardly ideal. I have gotten lost before and had a hard time figuring out I was near my starting base cause the chunks wouldn't load. Turns out it was 10ft in front of me and I couldn't see it. I've rebuilt worlds and it has persisted. As far as exiting/entering the world, one thing that *always* fixes it is going into the options and re-toggling the draw distance. Mine is set to far by default and by the time I click on it to get it back to far again, most of the chunks, and especially near ones, have redrawn. So I know it *can* do it quickly, it just doesn't for some reason. Is there a way to bind a hotkey to toggle draw distance maybe?
