      ATTENTION Forum Database Breach   03/04/2019

There has been a breach of our database. Please make sure you change your password (use a password manager, like Lastpass).
If you used this password anywhere else, change that too! The passwords themselves are stored hashed, but may old accounts still had old, insecure (by today's standards) hashes from back when they where created. This means they can be "cracked" more easily. Other leaked information includes: email, IP, account name.
I'm trying my best to find out more and keep everyone up to date. Discord (http://invite.gg/TerraFirmaCraft) is the best option for up to date news and questions. I'm sorry for this, but the damage has been done. All I can do is try to make sure it doesn't happen again.

  1. To describe myself, I am a well built twenty eight year old man of middling height, an off-pale complexion and off-sunny disposition. I have an interest in chemistry, will be starting classes soon for engineering, and have been playing video games since before I could read. I once won a wrestling competition against my own shadow, though not before getting pretty banged up and chipping a tooth, which has since been corrected, though my shadow obviously was unwilling to provide financial recompense.

Tell us a bit about yourself: Long time TFC player, played on a wide variety of different servers. Got a new computer, ready to try out all the new TFC features I've missed since being away.

How can you help us: I'm an incredible builder, and have a tendency towards collecting resources, mastering blacksmithing, and when bored I build roads and waypoints through the wild.

  3. This suggestion is simple enough in concept, basically that barrels retain their contents when broken. This would allow for a thriving alcohol trade if nothing else.

  4. There was a thread a while back about environmental effects, like damage in extreme heat and cold (which is much more viable now that the health pool is huge comparatively, letting health "drain away") As far as ice breaking though, it shouldn't be much harder than how they programmed grass covered dirt to sometimes fall when you walk over it and there is no support under it; the difference is instead of it being a random chance to drop, it checks the temperature and the chance of it breaking increases as it gets closer to the exact point of freezing and lower with the temperature.

For taking damage from the cold water below just make a debuff when you enter water of any kind below a certain temperature that slows by 10-20% and damages you if you stay in or enter water thereafter until "thawed" by a campfire or forge.

  5. Dunk was asking for fun hidden stuff a while back. Being able to brew the butchered remains of a bear (as the only type of meat possible to brew, tsk tsk for cannibalism) would be a delightful easter egg that people here could enjoy.

  6. I believe it was the combat overhaul idea thread that considered the use of armor penetration based on weapon, but I could also be making that up. Basically it just breaks down weapons into categories of high raw damage/low penetration and low raw damage/high penetration and the full gory rainbow that flows between.

On a similar note, you could always make swords have the potential for a critical strike, and maces would apply a debuff that reduces damage resistance by a stacking 10%. So each time you're struck by a mace you take successively higher damage, imitating the condition of being generally crushed.

  7. I enjoyed posting my ideas here and I actually check around every day. The truth is I notice that how I prefer to play and my view on ideas is pretty different than a majority of those here, so being quiet is easier. Ideas will start flowing again though once the new build comes out and people have something to talk about. Frankly, I've been holding my breath for butchery for the better part of the year now, and I'll keep doing so until it happens.

  8. The propick was useless for me until I learned the maths and radius of the thing, then it became fairly useful.

That said, getting out of the stone age is only hard if you rolled a world that doesn't have an excess of starter metals, and the last few worlds I've played had plenty. Harvest the stones on the ground as you explore, once you find an area that provides either cassiterite or sphalerite from the stone drops, mark it. Clear the area of stones and you'll likely end up with all the stacks of small ore you need for a tool or two. Take said tool back to anywhere you found a cluster of three or more drops in about a 5-10 block radius and you'll have your spot to dig down. It's not rocket science, it's just time consuming.

TLDR: If you have a hard time getting metal tools you're likely either inexperienced or incompetent (though unlucky also sometimes happens).

  9. This seems like an obvious direction for TFC considering the hazards of the world, while I don't play as actively I do give this a +1. On a side note, instead of potentially reenabling the vanilla furnace, another option would be to try to make the cactus "cookable" on a campfire. If you want to get excessively fancy you could always make your code check to see if TFC is installed or not, and enable a furnace or campfire recipe based on if it is.

  10. death waltz is, according to my knowledge, a form of remix off of UN owen was here, but how about you try this one first :D http-~~-//www.youtube.com/watch?v=y_TBJ5se_fc

Pretty sure it would take four people and a midget to play this successfully. Specifically the midget is there to do the worm across the keyboard during some of the more intense sequences.

  11. Again, I'm not talking about eating bones, I'm talking about throwing bones into the quern to get bone meal, and then mixing said bone meal with grazing animal fodder to provide additional health benefits to livestock. In this case, most likely cows.

  12. Since the name of the thread is use for bones, I'd like to point out the use of bone meal as a supplement in livestock feed. If mixed fodder for animals became available, the addition of bone meal could lead to increased animal growth.
