      ATTENTION Forum Database Breach   03/04/2019

There has been a breach of our database. Please make sure you change your password (use a password manager, like Lastpass).
If you used this password anywhere else, change that too! The passwords themselves are stored hashed, but may old accounts still had old, insecure (by today's standards) hashes from back when they where created. This means they can be "cracked" more easily. Other leaked information includes: email, IP, account name.
I'm trying my best to find out more and keep everyone up to date. Discord (http://invite.gg/TerraFirmaCraft) is the best option for up to date news and questions. I'm sorry for this, but the damage has been done. All I can do is try to make sure it doesn't happen again.

Creating stone chisel in 42

9 posts in this topic

I've tried to make the chisel head by napping using the same layout is the chisel plan but it isn't working. Don't know if this is a bug or am I just failing?

Thanks

Actually stone chisels do exist, but they can only be found in the Creative inventory, they can't be crafted in survival

I think that a stone chisel would defeat the whole "find low melting point metals to start off" mechanic of this mod :P I could just chisel some brick and go straight to the iron and steel tools

That wouldn't work anyways since you need to make an anvil out of the prior teir of metal, which can't be done by going straight for iron (needs bronze anvil which needs copper anvil which needs stone anvil)

It can be done if you find Borax, since you can use a stone hammer to turn that into flux, and with that you can use a stone anvil to work copper ingots and weld them, and in turn craft the welded ingots into an anvil. That trick only allows you to skip the starter metals though, and a stone chisel actually wouldn't change that, since you can, apparently, smelt copper in a firepit. Although I think that might only be possible in older versions.

But you still need to find it. The guy above my other post is implying you only need to find iron, which isn't true.

P.S. in my pre39 SSP world, I skipped iron everything except the anvil for steelworking.

I also skipped copper and went to bronze, with only copper anvil.

You can also just smelt copper in a firepit, it DOES work, although i did it at y=256 with hickory and a bellows.
