Ok, let's explain all:

You have a log--->you make planks from that log--->they look beautiful--->you dye them because you want another color--->well...now they're a bit bad--->if you want beautiful planks of that color you must search the right tree--->now you can have the beautiful planks you ever wanted.

This happens with all the wood types.

aaah so dyed planks would look meh but if you didnt want to search for that color tree they would work

but if you really wanted pretties, you would search for fancy trees

so maybe the dyed planks would look more like theyre painted, very bright and not at all natural looking, but the regular ones would look all pretty and stuff like they do now

so stained wood would be more like the wool dyes, with bright cartoony colors, natural wood colors would be less vibrant and more natural looking

hows that?

I don't know if cartoony is the right word, but they wouldn't be natural colors. It could even just add a "shine" to the planks, to make things like furniture and decorative wood look better. After all, its not very often you see unfinished wood furniture.
