      ATTENTION Forum Database Breach   03/04/2019

There has been a breach of our database. Please make sure you change your password (use a password manager, like Lastpass).
If you used this password anywhere else, change that too! The passwords themselves are stored hashed, but may old accounts still had old, insecure (by today's standards) hashes from back when they where created. This means they can be "cracked" more easily. Other leaked information includes: email, IP, account name.
I'm trying my best to find out more and keep everyone up to date. Discord (http://invite.gg/TerraFirmaCraft) is the best option for up to date news and questions. I'm sorry for this, but the damage has been done. All I can do is try to make sure it doesn't happen again.

Cobble change

12 posts in this topic

Something that bothers me is that you get cobblestone from loose rocks. Instead of a 1:1 ratio which makes no sense. I'm suggesting that you have a recipe that will create the cobble from nine pieces of stone of the same type.

It serves for a storage method and as a protection for when you accidentally right click with a loose stone.

i'm fairly certain the change notes already stated that solution is temporary and suggested they would do something similar to what you say here.

Please READ the change notes.

I did and I didn't see anything about that.

might not have been in the change log, but it's definitely been discussed here in the forums. It is only temporary, don't worry.

quoting from change notes for:

Beta v2 Build 40 Codename: Oompaloompa

  • Mining Raw Stone no longer gives cobblestone blocks. Instead it drops rock items. For now these rock items when used in the world will spawn a cobblestone block(If I ever get to overhauling construction, it will take several of these for a single cobble block). Currently uses programmer art, it’ll be changing don’t worry Posted Image

Cobble should be like the open storage with the logs. i think that makes more sense, and Dunk got any word on that?

Let me change this idea a bit.

Crafting 4 rocks together will create a cobble block

Mining stone with a pick will no longer drop 1 rock, but 4. This will mean that it remains consistent with '1 meter of stone = 1 meter of stone'. Picking rocks up off the ground will still yield 1 rock.

After the construction overhaul, you can craft cobble wall blocks by placing a rock on right-click while having some sort of fixative (probably mortar) on your hotbar.

These will have different textures based on the rock used, and will start off rather small, only 4 pixels high. Right-clicking with another rock of the same type will consume the rock and raise the block another 4 pixels, up to a maximum of 4 rocks for a full block. Only the full block will be recoverable, dropping 4 rocks.

"cobble" might turn itself into something totally different. What we currently have as cobble might become more of a "rubble" block.

I think it would be great if the loose rocks get a texture like many little pebbles on the square they are laying. Cause it would look moe likely then the current mini-block rocks. But I don't know what is already planned for this.

wouldn't really need two for knapping then, which is a feature we like

But why must we have two of the same rock? I know for simplicity's sake yes, but truthfully, one could use a durable rock, and knapp things more brittle like micah, and the resulting tool would be based off the weaker stone, where the stronger one is preserved.
