      ATTENTION Forum Database Breach   03/04/2019

      There has been a breach of our database. Please make sure you change your password (use a password manager, like Lastpass).
      If you used this password anywhere else, change that too! The passwords themselves are stored hashed, but may old accounts still had old, insecure (by today's standards) hashes from back when they where created. This means they can be "cracked" more easily. Other leaked information includes: email, IP, account name.
      I'm trying my best to find out more and keep everyone up to date. Discord (http://invite.gg/TerraFirmaCraft) is the best option for up to date news and questions. I'm sorry for this, but the damage has been done. All I can do is try to make sure it doesn't happen again.

Realistic water bodies

Long time without posting suggestions myself :P

Well, the idea is pretty simple. Have natural water bodies -lakes, rivers...- spawn at higher altitudes than the sea level. If they are rivers/lakes with some place where the water can get out, due to natural height variations, they could naturally create waterfalls and water streams, that would naturally flow towards the lower lands or simply "evaporate" in plain surfaces before they reach the lower lands. The evaporation would be easily represented by the flowing limit vanilla water already has, although you could make it higher if you felt it was too fast. Wouldn't it be awesome to climb one of the minecraft hills, reach the top, and find there is a lake there?

It could make gold panning somehow more "realistic", i think. I was never really sure that a river that starts and finishes at sea level -like those we have right now- could possibly be useful for gold panning... Now, a river that comes from the mountains, where it could come in contact with rocks, and therefore could have a way to obtain the minerals i pan out of it... I don't know, it feels

If you want glaciers, you could also have them; since the water always becomes ice at a certain temperature, the water from those lakes/rivers would eventually become glaciers, if the temperature in the biome* is cold enough.

*I'm not talking about vanilla biomes here :\

though there is the problem of getting world features like rivers and lakes to spawn at higher altitudes

Yep :P but then, you have to either add that to your tiny tweaks metathread, or i have to rename this topic as "Realistic water in general", and i think someone already made a post about that...

hmmm... idk if that's tiny tho...

...I'll ask Dunk about the water tiles. If it's just a damage value thing, I'll add it to my thread

I would love to see the world gen go the way of continents with large DEEP oceans. Continental shelfs, island chains off in the ocean. Rivers that flow down through valleys to the ocean, streams that feed the rivers from the mountains.
