      ATTENTION Forum Database Breach   03/04/2019

There has been a breach of our database. Please make sure you change your password (use a password manager, like Lastpass).
If you used this password anywhere else, change that too! The passwords themselves are stored hashed, but may old accounts still had old, insecure (by today's standards) hashes from back when they where created. This means they can be "cracked" more easily. Other leaked information includes: email, IP, account name.
I'm trying my best to find out more and keep everyone up to date. Discord (http://invite.gg/TerraFirmaCraft) is the best option for up to date news and questions. I'm sorry for this, but the damage has been done. All I can do is try to make sure it doesn't happen again.

Where to change the days for a year in the config?

9 posts in this topic

Hey there!

I've stumbled across this great mod when browsing some forums, and it's exactly what we've been looking for - Not having seen all that minecraft has to offer after 2 hours of gameplay :P I tested it yesterday, and it took me some good 3 or 4 hours to get close to making my first pickaxe. Now, as usual, I want to set it up on a hamachi server for us - 4 people, including me, to play. The problem is, that we're all working and in the best cases have 2-3 hours a day to play together. Thus, it'd be great if we could reduce the days for a year to either the 96 suggested in the latest changelog.. (if the beta is released during the next days, we can actually forget about this here - then we'll just wait!), or something even shorter. None of us wants to leave his computer running all day long to make the hamachi server progress still, so.. it's uptime is just when we're all at home / willing to play.

Maybe someone here already did it and could give me a hint on how to do it? It'd be great if we could start playing a while before 1.4 gets released!

Thanks beforehand!

I did search the forums on the topic, but the most helpful thing I found was a mention of looking it up in the changelog, which I did. I too checked the config files that already exist, but they only have a option for the ticks of a day :/

It's likely that the beta build 53 will be released before 1.4.

Nothing you can do before that version is released, other then the thing you don't want to do, leave a comp running all day to let time pass.

Ah, damn :/ I had hoped there'd be something easy to just change the numbers.. Well, thank you in any case :) We'll simply wait for build 53 then!

Im sorry for the double post, but one of my mates just came up with the suggestion that we could start a hamachi-server as mentioned abov with build 52, update once build 53 is out, and then change the time to something suitable for us. Could we expect this to work properly or should we rather wait and start a new world with build 53?

From what the post on the front page says you are better off waiting.

By default TFC will now be rolling out with a time scale of 96 days in a year instead of the old 360(8 days per month vs 30). Its important to note that this number is not currently saved with the world(I’m sure I’ll find a good way to do this eventually) so do not change the time scale if you plan to play in a world that was started with a different scale. Wonky things will happen.

You don't need te server runnign for time to progress, it makes a fast forward using the sytem clock when you reconnect the server

Hmm, I just gave that a try, EstebanLB! Started the server with a new world, logged in on it, wrote down the date, time, etc. disconnected and stopped/shut down the server again. Then I waited for 2 hours, started the server again and connected - To see that the calendar shows no change at all. Just the ingame hours had progressed, while there should have been some days progress for about 2 hours of time difference?

Yeah you definitely need the server running for time to pass. I've had mine off for days and came back and it's the same in game date. I don't think it should ever work based on the system clock like that. When you start up a server it should come back in the same state as when you stopped it.

I think in game stuff will "fast forward" using the in game time when a chunk is loaded (ie: when you connect, or come back to your base after having been gone a while).

In other words, you don't have to have the client running and/or connected to the server for time to pass, but you do need to keep the server process running all the time.
