      ATTENTION Forum Database Breach   03/04/2019

There has been a breach of our database. Please make sure you change your password (use a password manager, like Lastpass).
If you used this password anywhere else, change that too! The passwords themselves are stored hashed, but may old accounts still had old, insecure (by today's standards) hashes from back when they where created. This means they can be "cracked" more easily. Other leaked information includes: email, IP, account name.
I'm trying my best to find out more and keep everyone up to date. Discord (http://invite.gg/TerraFirmaCraft) is the best option for up to date news and questions. I'm sorry for this, but the damage has been done. All I can do is try to make sure it doesn't happen again.

Consistent Crash : vv cannot be cast to TFCBiome

2 posts in this topic

I have begun to experience a consistent crash in TFC that occurs within proximity to a location within my world. As I load there it will crash the client in less than a minute, but if I am able to move far enough away it will continue on indefinitely as far as I am aware.

I installed this mod as instructed - over a clean copy of 1.3.2 ( I began playing before the release of 1.4 ), installing Forge Universal 4.2.5.310 then PlayerAPI 1.6 to the JAR and deleting the META-INF, then placing TFC 52e in the Mod folder.

For context, I had been playing on this world for perhaps a dozen hours and had progressed to copper tools. I had passed through the area where I now crash many times, it is within 2 chunks of a sluice farm and a charcoal pit I used regularly.

I believe I was knapping when my client initially locked up, and I did not look over that error log. However subsequently I generate logs like this :

http://pastebin.com/KKvsG0Hs This is when I loaded within the area I crash.

http://pastebin.com/mVCfYuPg In this, I relocated myself manually with MCEdit and ran a chunk or two back to the area

As you can see, both times it attributes it to a failed cast of VV to TFCBiome originating in BlockCustomSnow. I've found a couple of threads about this crash, as Google Caches but not in the forums, it was speculated it was trying to generate Vanilla snow, however no solution was offered.

I speculated that I had broken something in the save, so deleted the chunks and entities near the location using MCEdit, however the crash persists and the chunks were replaced correctly though with far more trees than when I first visited the place.

Any help would be appreciated.

I suspect this isn't easily repeatable, but I do not have a great amount of free time and given the pacing of this mod I would really rather avoid doing so.

That doesn't really look like a bug. Certainly not with TFC anyway... looks more like your world file just got corrupted. You could try loading it in a world editor and see if you can just get rid of that chunk (use a chunk beside it or something) but beyond that... I think you're out of luck.
