      ATTENTION Forum Database Breach   03/04/2019

There has been a breach of our database. Please make sure you change your password (use a password manager, like Lastpass).
If you used this password anywhere else, change that too! The passwords themselves are stored hashed, but may old accounts still had old, insecure (by today's standards) hashes from back when they where created. This means they can be "cracked" more easily. Other leaked information includes: email, IP, account name.
I'm trying my best to find out more and keep everyone up to date. Discord (http://invite.gg/TerraFirmaCraft) is the best option for up to date news and questions. I'm sorry for this, but the damage has been done. All I can do is try to make sure it doesn't happen again.

Randomization near border of arctic regions?

8 posts in this topic

Flew up to see one, very very stark and sudden shift to snow at the "border", could something be done to mix this up a bit so it doesnt just look like a straight line across the terrain?

I agree that this looks a bit odd, but it isn't a huge deal. There are much bigger things on the horizon for TFC, and Bioxx is always tweaking things like this, so I'm sure it will happen eventually.

Someone seems to not be in the mood to make perlin noise go there...

Most of this will be unnoticable when snowfall and accumulation is fixed id think, but a little randomization couldn't hurt.

what? I don't follow :/

Edit: Nevermind, looked up Perlin noise, but I'm still a bit confused as to who you are talking to :/

Perlin noise, basically, is what makes terrain randomization. Seems like Bioxx didn't made it by applying perlin noise but as >15k = artic (might be more than 15...) this makes the artic looks like a stripe. Although perlin noise is not simple, but seems relevant here, if not noise then at least a transition 'biome'.

Like I said, I looked it up, but yeah, guess he hasn't gotten to that yet. But as I said, I'm sure he will.
