      ATTENTION Forum Database Breach   03/04/2019

There has been a breach of our database. Please make sure you change your password (use a password manager, like Lastpass).
If you used this password anywhere else, change that too! The passwords themselves are stored hashed, but may old accounts still had old, insecure (by today's standards) hashes from back when they where created. This means they can be "cracked" more easily. Other leaked information includes: email, IP, account name.
I'm trying my best to find out more and keep everyone up to date. Discord (http://invite.gg/TerraFirmaCraft) is the best option for up to date news and questions. I'm sorry for this, but the damage has been done. All I can do is try to make sure it doesn't happen again.

Ore Dictionary

9 posts in this topic

I remembered (perhaps falsely, I may have been thinking of a different mod) that all the ingots in this mod were registered in the Ore Dictionary. So I decided to check. I set up a MultiMC instance with NEI, Industrialcraft, Forestry, and a few other mods and discovered that IC and Forestry items couldn't be crafted with TFC Copper Ingots.

I'm not exactly sure how to react. Perhaps I should dismiss this, thinking that no way to obtain normal Iron Ingots means no point to the other mods mentioned. Perhaps I should react badly.

I dunno. What does everyone think?

Dismiss it. TFC was not meant to operate at the same capacity as Forestry and IC. It is not even in the same era of ideas. It is to the discretion of the mod maker if is compatible or not.

Like someone else said " Screw compatibility, TFC is its own beast." And Yes dismiss it. TFC is a total conversion mod and there is already a compatibility thread for which mods are compatible or not. The only Technic mod that works well/fully/mostly fully with TFC, iirc, is RailCraft. Someone got it to work by changing the configs or something, i don't really know. Here is the thread:

It still would be funny if those mods would work together. Though, for a good feeling: Melting ingots from ore needs to be disabled in machines and so on to keep the idea of TFC. But its too soon to talk about stuff like that, thats for the future once the mod is officially released and not everything gets changed completly every time it updates.

Like someone once said "...The day TFC is fully released is the day Vanilla stops updating..."...so never. But, yeah, I get your point.

Do you know that when the sales decrease too much, minecraft will become a public domain? Then there will not be official updates, or they will be only if a group of modders make a community similar to the forge one.

Eh, I knew that, but I didn't realize/forgot about that. Anyway, good point. But I can't see that happening in the next 2/3 years, maybe even more.

I don't give minecraft so much time, I think in the next 1.5 years...

If you want to obtain normal iron ingots, set 'enablevanillarecipes=true' in TFCOptions.cfg. That will allow you to convert a TFC wrought iron ingot into a vanilla iron ingot.
