      ATTENTION Forum Database Breach   03/04/2019

There has been a breach of our database. Please make sure you change your password (use a password manager, like Lastpass).
If you used this password anywhere else, change that too! The passwords themselves are stored hashed, but may old accounts still had old, insecure (by today's standards) hashes from back when they where created. This means they can be "cracked" more easily. Other leaked information includes: email, IP, account name.
I'm trying my best to find out more and keep everyone up to date. Discord (http://invite.gg/TerraFirmaCraft) is the best option for up to date news and questions. I'm sorry for this, but the damage has been done. All I can do is try to make sure it doesn't happen again.

Hello I noticed if I place ingots or a metal sheet that it does not cool down at all if placed in the side slot of the forge.

Yeah it's a feature. The same happens if you put them in an anvil. This is to make them easy to work in an anvil.

what the wolf said it supposed to do that. imagine if your working a piece of metal you want it to stay hot but not increase in temp you take it out of the heat and set it of to the side of the forge.

should they really stay hot when placed in an anvil though?

I thought this was a bug as well, I'd assumed that working a metal before it cools down was part of the charm of system.

The forge makes sense, you might set something aside I guess to keep it warm but when you'r finally working it it should cool off.

It doesn't make sense that I can build a bunch of forges and store liquid/hot metal forever, though.

It would be much more believable if it was temp protected only when the forge was hot, but once it goes cold, it still cools down.

Same for the anvil... should only be temp protected when within 2-3 blocks of a hot forge.

That way you can't keep stuff hot forever for free, but you still get the convenience when you're actively working on it.

still waiting for an official statement on this "feature" since build 58.....

I really can't imagine bioxx making the life so easy for us... Nothing gets so easy intentionally since im playing TFC...so it would be a big exception. Cause right now i can use a lot of stone blocks (igneous in the form of anvil of course) to store my hot metal. Can't be intentioned, as far as i know bioxx.

it actually only keeps it warm while the forge is lit though i think...

the reason I say this is because I had some metal stored in the slots and went mining when I came back and my forge was out they were completely cooled.

the anvil though I agree needs to cool down metal

I think it was stated as a feature long before build 58....

i'd really like to see an official post. Never saw anything official regarding this point. Btw...edit button ;)

If you find a post or anything, link it pls.

If it would be implemented in a way like: As long as your forge is hot, your metal in the side slots stays at it's temperature, it would make sense. But when the forge is cold and the metal stays warm, it just doesen't make sense and is in no way believable.

I think that it does...I haven't proved it yet I will test this when I get home.

My zinc sheet is still "Very Hot *" after about 2 days.

yeah.... I tested it and they don't cool off ever. so all bioxx needs to do with the forge is make it so side slots act just like the normal ones except without gaining in temp.

the anvil though, I still agree has no reason to keep metal at a stable temp.

Edit:

I have to agree with what the wolf states bellow

Maybe because it cooled down too quickly putting the player in a hurry and compromising the quality of the tool made.

If you think, irl metal doesn't cool down so fast.

At least make metals in anvil cool down slowly, but don't make them cool down normally, like in your hand, because it can be annoying when a player can't make that damn pickaxe head only because the metal cools down too quickly don't you think?
