[Solved] Simple instructions?

I'm currently lost on installing TFC, so could anyone give me easy to understand instructions on it? I've never actually downladed a mod before (without using an auto-installer) so you can imagine it might be a bit difficult.

Sure thing. I will copy-paste a response I've used here before. As a note: some people like to use a program called Multi-MC to install TFC, but I don't understand it and find it more pain than its worth, this is guide for just installing normally.

You have to follow the directions very carefully to get TFC to work, the mods it relies on are very picky. I'll list the steps here for you since I don't mind re-writing them:

1) Delete the whole .minecraft folder in %appdata% and restart minecraft to download all new game files.

2) Open the new minecraft.jar with 7-zip or winrar and delete the META-INF file.

3) Next download Forge Universal 6.4.0.359 and open it with 7-zip or winrar and drag/drop all of its files into the open minecraft.jar from step 2..

4) Close minecraft.jar and start up Minecraft and let it load until the menu screen, then exit.

5) Download Player API Universal 1.2 and install it in the same manner as you installed Forge.

6) Close the minecraft.jar file and load up minecraft to the menu screen again, then exit.

7) Finally place the TFC zip folder (no need to unzip it, just place the whole file) into the %appdata%/roaming/.minecraft/mods folder.

If you follow these directions, TFC will work.

Minecraft Magic Launcher is very easy to understand and work with. You should give it a try, for me it was like 10x faster to install the mod with it.

I've tried using Magic Launcher, still with little sucess. How exactly do I get it in?

Okay, first get 7 zip,

have a fresh clean minecraft jar,i

right click the minecraft jar in your bin folder and select open with 7zip.

now go to where you downloaded forge, and extract the forge zip then open the folder and drag all the files into the minecraft jar.

now do the same with player api,

and now start minecraft and let forge make the mods folder, quit minecraft and then add TFC to the mods folder along with anyother mods you may like (rei's is compatible with tfc for example)

then start minecraft and make a fresh world.

Hooray! It installed!

It turns out the problem I was having was that I was trying to use Forge 1.4.6 with Minecraft 1.4.5.

EDIT: Unfortunately, I tried downloading Rei's Minimap and my computer got a virus.

I downloaded from there, but for whatever reason the 1.4.5 didn't work.
