      ATTENTION Forum Database Breach   03/04/2019

There has been a breach of our database. Please make sure you change your password (use a password manager, like Lastpass).
If you used this password anywhere else, change that too! The passwords themselves are stored hashed, but may old accounts still had old, insecure (by today's standards) hashes from back when they where created. This means they can be "cracked" more easily. Other leaked information includes: email, IP, account name.
I'm trying my best to find out more and keep everyone up to date. Discord (http://invite.gg/TerraFirmaCraft) is the best option for up to date news and questions. I'm sorry for this, but the damage has been done. All I can do is try to make sure it doesn't happen again.

Extreme lag.

8 posts in this topic

I recently downloaded TFC, and I can't go thirty seconds without a major lag spike. I've turned off bobbing, clouds, and smooth lighting. Graphics are at fast, Particles are at minimal, and Performance is at Max FPS. Render Distance is at normal. (I would go lower, but not being able to see where I'm going drives me mad.) Even after all of this, the lag hasn't stopped. Any suggestions?

I'm not sure, but the computer is fairly new, if that makes a difference.

one thing you could do here, one is make sure that you have enough memory allocated to the JVM. On windows 7 go to Start -> Control Panel -> Programs -> java -> java tab, and enter in -Xmx1g (1g for 1 gig of memory, or say 2g for two gigs. Dont set this to a value greater than the memory installed on the machine!) in the runtime parameters field and check the check box. This might help... but you havent really said that you experienced any out of memory exceptions so it Might help. I hear other people have success with optifine, but I have no experience using it and wouldnt be of much help. Higher resolution texture packs can also cause problems.

Also, if you are on a x64 platform, make sure you are using 64 bit java.

You could also post your system resources here to see how they compare with other users' machines. This includes RAM, CPU, and GPU specs. Most of this can be gathered by clicking start - > search for run -> open the run window -> type in dxdiag, save the diag results (the Save All Information button) to a text file and post a link to it here so we can see it.

I'm having a similar problem but it doesn't seem to be a RAM problem, My ram usage hasn't gone above ~40% But randomly my game will lag really bad and my CPU spikes to max. I have a decent computer (It's not super high end but still) as it runs AC3 and other newer games like that just fine. I've tried completely re-installing TCcraft from a fresh install of minecraft and I'm still getting this problem. I am sure that I installed it properly, and I'm using NEI for recipes but that's it for other mods.

Edit: Forgot to mention that I am using the version of forge specified by the install instructions on the TCcraft site.

.... my CPU spikes to max. I have a decent computer (It's not super high end but still) ....

We still don't know your PC specs.

CPU: ?

RAM: ?

Graphics: ?

OS: ? (32bit or 64bit)

Antivirus/spam program: ?

What is running besides Minecraft?

How many Java installations do you have ( C:Program FilesJava?? or/and C:Program Files(x86)?? ) ?

A mod list you are using would also help.

There are many factors that could be the source of your problem.

We need more info to make any good suggestions.
